This egg was probably 2 days earlier than the others. It is hard to tell because I had two mamas and they laid a week apart. They also switched eggs between their nests. He is in an incubator with a wet cloth now. Thank you so much!
Yes it is still some shell and membrane still attached. I do have it in a tea cup but I used a moistened cloth under the shell and around the duckling. I will try a dry paper towel now and see how that goes. Thank you for the help!! What is the maximum time I should wait to see if the yolk...
yesterday I found this duckling in the nest and it looks as though mama maybe trampled the egg and /or pecked it open. I have had this little one in the incubator for 32 hours now keeping the protrusion most and keeping the duckling wrapped in a cup. The protrusion has shrunk slightly. Is this...
As soon as I opened the door the mama quacked like she always does and the duckling peeped over and over so I think she recognized her mama. I went over and set the duckling down by mama and she took it under her wing. Yay!! I’ve been keeping an eye on them just to be sure.
I had three ducklings externally pip under mama but them mama took her other ducklings off the nest so I put the three in an incubator. One has successfully hatched so far. My question is will mama accept the duckling if after it dries and fluffs I give it back to her? Thank you
May I ask why people take the ducklings away from their mamas? I’m a first time duck mom with newly hatched ducklings and was just curious. I would feel horrible after all the work mama went through just to take them away from her. Thanks for any input
Over 48 hours ago mamas first duckling hatched and her second hatched this morning. There is roughly 10 eggs left in the nest and when I peeked I did not see any signs of others ready to hatch. As a first timer I am nervous and have a few questions if anyone can help me please and thank you. 1...
I don’t but will locate one. She is just sitting on the nest with the other mama. I thought about taking the eggs and putting them in the one nest that they are both sitting on. Would that work?
Hi. I have two welsh harlequin ducks sitting on their own nests side by side. One duckling hatched today and is staying with its mama waiting for the others to hatch. The second female has now left her nest and has moved over to share the nest with the other mama and baby. I’m not sure what to...
