    I have 2 lab mix dogs about 4 years old. I have to keep them penned up all the time because they kill chickens. How can I get them to stop?

    If they are primarily Labs, introduce it as their job. Speak to them the whole time and explain chickens are part of your family and we protect them. While on a leash a "no, naughty" if they leap toward a chicken. My lab/australian cattle dog, does a great job of herding them back into the coop...

    UPDATE!!!!!!! My rooster laid an egg!!! Yeah! I had literally just emailed rescue places this morning. I'M SO HAPPY!!!! It should be noted that she started looking even more like a rooster (some iridescent feathers, etc). Wouldn't have believed it, if I hadn't seen it for myself!!

    I agree it’s an Easter Egger. I think the white wing tips are throwing things off. You need to look at the vent.

    I’ve taken pics of both of my Dominiques. The one I question has slightly darker feathers at the saddle but the feather direction is just like the one I don’t question. The standing one has those side face things. I thank you all for your help.
