Hi our silky just hatched an egg and probably some more to come. She is in a nest box in the main coop. Will the babies be ok or will the other chickens try to kill them? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Well we kept Her inside for two days. The first day she seemed a little better and today she somehow made a miraculous recovery and could not wait to get back out with the flock. We are new to this so I have no idea what was going on with her, but very happy to see her doing well. Thank you to...
They were being looked after. Nothing was sprayed or anything like that. She is about 7 months old. She is standing , but when she tries to move she tips over. She is not lying down to sleep.
We were away for a couple of days and tonight when doing a head count we noticed that one of the sapphire gems was sitting in the poop box. She tried to stand up but keeps tipping over. We put her in a bin and brought her in the house. She did eat some but did not drink. She stands up but keeps...

Thank you all for responding. The information is all very helpful. I think I will give the extra perch a try. I don't think she will be able to fit there after she is full grown.
OK here are the pics of the chickens on the perch and the one that wants to sleep on the shelf over the windows. She started out in the corner but now she goes to about the middle between the windows.
I think I have posting pics figured out that is if you can see these four pics ok. If so I will take more of the inside of the coop and where the one chicken is roosting.
I have an Amish built coop and they put a shelf over the windows level with the eaves. I have about a 10 week old Sapphire Gem that wants to sleep up there instead of using the perch. I have 9 other chickens all were gotten at the same time and they all sleep tight together on the perch. Why...
Lots of detailed and very informative information. I think it is the best read that I have seen so far on any other sites. New to this site, but it was the first post I read and I loved it.
