Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Hi, sorry, just saw this message. Been busy with work and the Ducks are keeping my quite busy too! Ammy has her new feathers coming through, so she's being very standoffish. Trying my best not to be offended. It's very cold here, as it's the middle of Winter.

Suprelorin Implant - Cost and side effects?

Hi there, I'm just about to go through the implant with my male mallard. The vet said he may benefit from this implant. I am still sceptical on if it's the right thing to do. I also have a female muscovy who is laying at the moment and she is laying healthy eggs, but she is scratching...

Enlarged Testicles in Male Mallard x Saxony

Hi All, I've just had my 3 year old Male Mallard x Saxony at the Vet. He was short stepping when he walked, more so on concrete. Vet did x-rays and found that his testicles were enlarged. The Vet suggested an implant to control his testosterone levels. He is quite a randy boy and he does have...

    Is my Muscovy sick?

That's the thing. After the 1st 7 days with the bandage, I kept both Ducks inside (she hated me). Went to Vet and when they took off the bandage, she came back with Ammy and asked if it looked better/worse/the same. To be honest it looked like the Vet had just wacked a bandage on and charged...

    Is my Muscovy sick?

She's only just stopped laying eggs. She didn't lay today or yesterday. I'm thinking she's broody, but she'll come out have a play for about 15-20 minutes, then she'll go back to her same spot (in between the food bowls and the auto feeder) and she'll just sit. She'll re-position herself and...

    Is my Muscovy sick?

Hi All, I am quite worried about my female Muscovy. She is spending all day in the pen. She's not off her food. She's just had an issue with Bumblefoot. I don't know if it's still that, or I'm making a mountain out of a molehill. She had her foot bandaged for 2 weeks (1 because she was...

    Broody ducks?

When my Muscovy goes broody she makes a squeaking sound whenever you go near her. That's how I can tell she's broody.

    Weak Legs Nesting Muscovy

They have constant access to the pellets. The brand is Peckish Produce Duck Pellets. The poultry mix is Peters Free Range Poultry Mix. They predominantly get the pellets, they get the poultry mix if I run out of pellets. I'm in Melbourne, Australia.

    Weak Legs Nesting Muscovy

She is getting a Duck Pallet and poultry mix as well. She has all the grass she can ask for. They also have meal worms as snacks and a few mixed in with breakfast and dinner. Even with the Duck pallets is there a possibility she's still not getting enough niacin? I really appreciate this...

    Weak Legs Nesting Muscovy

I feed her and her boyfriend kale, parsnip, cucumber, zucini, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and pak choy in the morning and peas and corn at night. Her boyfriend is a Mallard x Saxony, so I've been told the egg won't be fertile. Should I try to get her out of her broodiness? I know she gets up...

    Weak Legs Nesting Muscovy

Hi All, I need advice. I have a female Muscovy nesting at the moment. She spends most of the day on her 1 egg. She will get up every now and then, but I have noticed she will start eating, but she'll sit down. Is it common for nesting ducks to get weakness in their legs because they sit on the...

Hi All, I need some more advice. I have a broody little Muscovy girl. She's been sitting on an egg for a few days. I have often seen her off the nest and near her food bowl, but she's sitting down. Is it common for ducks to be weak in their legs when they sit on the nest? She's still...

    Female Muscovy Won't Leave Nest

Appreciate the advice. Hoping she'll be in a better mood tomorrow. Just getting worried because I'm trying to work out the signs in behaviour. This is her second clutch. She started laying an egg almost every day at the beginning of July. She stopped at the end of July for about 2-3 weeks...

    Female Muscovy Won't Leave Nest

Hi All, I'm fairly new to Raising Ducks. I have a female Muscovy and a male Saxony x Mallard. Both are 10 months old. The female (Amalthea) has been sitting on an egg she laid this morning at 10:15am. She hasn't moved all day. She's giving me the squeak sounds and I'm a little worried. When I...
