Spray vetericin on them. Use the nozzle where it sprays a stream it will flow under the feathers. Crush up dried bay leaves and sprinkle that in the wound. Flies do not like bay leaves so they wont lay eggs on the wound. Hopefully your grocery has a bulk spice section! This has worked well...
