I understand. I think I am going to take the route of my own blood test. If I show lead, then I may check my soil or get my birds blood checked, which is easy enough to do with a draw at the vet.
Hi, I am chiming in here not because I feel this might be your problem, but because it may be my problem and I want to share. I have had 2 chickens die with cancer 3 weeks apart from each other. 1- lymphoma and leukemia, 2nd was different cancer, but I forget. One of the suggestions was to check...
If her crop was not empty in the morning she may not be actually digesting any food she is eating. I would bring her inside where you can closely watch to see if she is pooping normal. Continue to offer feed and make sure she is eating. Does she have a flock? Any bullying? Has she been hiding...
Great news! Her first day outside, towards the end of the day, she had a normal poo, not watery. But it was tiny. She had coconut oil bits twice today and fermented feed twice and I let the all out to scrounge for a bit before sundown. Hopefully she is on the mend.
Thank you. The three have grit available all the time. Should i isolate her with a bowl of it to ensure she is eating it? They are all outside in their pen. Its 10*10, 6' tall with a roof.
Thank you! I may give her some molasses anyway since all she is passing is liquid! I'm so worried about her. :'( and they get a pro/acidifier in their water pretty frequently. Is there something better?
I swear these chickens are going to be the death of me!!
One of my chickens was being crabby with the other 2, so i brought her in for 3 nights/days, during that time she ate pee pads! quite a bit too! While I was working.
Lose stool, then she would scratch and pick at the wet portion of the pee...
yes, hers did start like that & they pecked it and she had a small boo boo. But, once that boo boo healed (she saw the vet, then I kept her inside to heal) and she has been fine since then. It's feathered over & she just has a misshapen lower area now. And, she receives an implant to no longer...
nothing is out. She did have a boo boo when it first happened years ago, other hens pecked at it, but it healed & she has been pretty good since then. Other than it's obv that her stuff is all not in the space it should be when I fell underneath her. Should I explore maybe surgery?
It's different depending on liquid or powdered corid. Link is here - https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/updated-corid-and-amprol-amprolium-dosing.818879/
Her breastbone has no rubs or rawness. And she does lay down, I just think when she totally relaxes she wakes up due to discomfort. It's a rather large hernia, most of her underneath. I can try to photograph, but it is much easier to feel than to see.
My sweet hen did not survive. Late Thursday night she passed, aspirated.
Necropsy photos revealed she had a mass in her intestines, she wasn't passing food through her system that's how large the mass was. :'( necropsy results pending but the vet said appears to also be lymphoma. So all of my...
One of my sweet girls has had a hernia for approximately 2.5 years. She manages much better than I expected her to, but I have often wondered why her feet are so much larger than the others.
I think i figured it out. She sleeps standing! Maybe at some point she will sit down on the roost, rest...
Thank you! I sent you a message. Attached a picture of 3 of my girls from the other day. They bring me so much joy. One of them is molting. 🥰😅
Edited - just realized 4 are in this picture. The one behind Chirp (who is molting) is Boss. She is the most recently passed (Thursday night) 😭 Her...
Hi! I know this is a little bit of a dated thread, and I am so happy to hear you found something that helped Penny Marshall! 🥰 She certainly is adorable.🤩 I currently have a small flock (2 have recently passes) and all 3 of them are showing signs. coordination off, head tilt, sitting more than...
