BBS (Blue Black Splash) Marans - Pumperkinz

Thanks Wrath you too! Good luck in the new year :) I have some big plans for my geese, and maybe some of my marans. Building a 30x15 barn for everyone so my morning chores are really easy lol.

    Wrath's Marans

Nice bloom + spotting. ... You are making me want to do a very large hatch out. I bought two GQF's cabinets last week and waiting on a power cord to come in and some trays. (: When mine start laying consistently maybe I will do an extra large hatch lol.

    Wrath's Marans

@wrathsfarm I'm so sorry about king. He's sired lot of handsome chicks, and I'm sure his legacy will live on well. ♥♥

    What colors will they produce?

The boys generally will abduct babies :) They really love to meet and greet, it's a whole social exercise lol. I have some charts I hand do based on the genetics but it's mostly just me going through the genetics based on what combos come out. There are quite a few posts about it in the...

    Wrath's Marans

I think most people would say give photo credit, as long as you aren't posting them for "your own" and you give credit idk anyone that gets upset :) could be wrong ofc. Or you can share the link where you got them from too. Glad you are being thoughtful of others ♥

    What colors will they produce?

Oh to answer the throwing white goslings, yes this would be where your white goslings would come from. His dilution would show up white girls mostly from the goslings he parented :) (From memory I don't have my chart with me).

    What colors will they produce?

For sure feel free to follow my FB stuff -> (Honk & Howl Farm). If you can't catch me here for whatever reason and you need help. I'm not sure when my first eggs will come, I've seen some mating but my youngest boy (full grey) has determined the lavenders are "his" so he follows them and...

Photo Credit - Happy Daze Ranch This is a photo of his Cream + Buff Pair for reference. Annette's creams too hope this helps!

    What colors will they produce?

You know he has a good pic of a lilac/buff pic here - I would call it stony or like a pewter color in the middle and the buff has a deeper "brown" so maybe this helps you in person. I love the buffs so much! His do have a white dot on the tips so I think the brown bean thing is probably just...

    What colors will they produce?

Cream Gander x Grey Goose - 50/50 Blue/Lilac Cream x White - This is a little tricky depending on what the back end traits the white is covering but should be something around Blue/Lilac/Lavender/Cream Cream x SB Grey - Blue/Lilac Cream x Blue SB/Splash - Blue/Cream/Lavender/Lilac Cream x Buff -...

    What colors will they produce?

It could very well be! Jerry has been a fantastic mentor for myself, and I've learned a lot from him. I'm working on the greys this year, and I have some buff plans as well as a full white line. But that's a lot of work :) lol I start showing next year for all my colors (Honk & Howl...

    What colors will they produce?

Yes the girl up front would be an "overly marked blue saddleback with some dilution). She's very close to being a lavender but she's a hue darker, but not dark enough to be grey. My lavender gander is overly marked, but it's hard to tell because the soft silver and white looks so similar. As...

    What colors will they produce?

Does his flight feathers have any darker color then the normal soft brown? I raise the cream out because he's a softer brown but I don't see any dark dark feathers like the normal buffs. I do not have a book, but maybe one day LOL. I've been raising chickens for years, but this is my first...

    What colors will they produce?

So with Lilac he'd have some blue/grey trailing feathers and almost certainly have a brown "bean" on his tip of his beak btw. In your second picture he almost looks cream, which is really unique! It might be sun dilution too where the sun is basically diluting his color, but would make sense why...

    What colors will they produce?

Yes - and knowing parentage is important in knowing how their babies will pop out. And no problem it's just genetics :) A big thing with crossing in white causes the dilutions, where you start seeing white around the beaks etc. Some of my best birds are saddlebacks! My goal this year is...

    What colors will they produce?

Hi @Strawberry74 Grey SB / White - 50/50 Dilute Grey SB, Grey SB Grey SB/Grey SB - Grey SB Grey SB/ Grey - 50/50 Grey, Grey SB Grey SB/ Blue Splash - 25/25/25/25 - Grey SB, Grey SB, Blue SB, Blue SB. There might be some dilution with these, as the spotting gene can throw some weird things in...

    gander squeaks, shakes head, sneezing

Glad to hear! Hopefully not CRD and just a rando infection so he stays healthy. @Goosebaby is a wealth of knowledge ♥

    Cracked beak - lower jaw

I agree w/ @Goosebaby. Need to see if they can clean it up, and I'd personally bring her inside in a low stress/impact environment so she couldn't accidentally break/grab it more. I do worry w/ beak necrosis its because of maybe she can't clean out the feed from her beak, and bacteria is...

    geese laying off seasion

Tbh the wild weather up in the NE I'm expecting mine to start early too. We had a whirlwind of snow/warm/rain. 20-60 degree swings and i'm like ugh lol. But maybe the weather plays a little role in it. I know a few people who leave babies with theirs up till October and they won't start laying...

    geese laying off seasion

If you are in the midwest/northeast everyone seems to be having babies start laying early. Sometimes they will start "early", but stop and then restart later once light starts picking up. A bunch of sebbie breeders are having a random drop in eggs right now too so I don't think it's just random.
