Sapphire Olive Eggers from Hoover's Hatchery

You may know the answer to this. Lol. I'm my batch of new chickens this year I have 4 Easter Eggers, 1 Sapphire Gem, 1 Sapphire Olive egger(confirmed olive) and 3 speckled Sussex. One of them is giving me a darker brown egg with speckles. Which could it be? The only one I know of that could have...

Sapphire Olive Eggers from Hoover's Hatchery

Dusty ended up being a Sapphire Gem. Lol but stormy is definitely an olive egger and was the first of my new ones to lay. 😁

Sapphire Olive Eggers from Hoover's Hatchery

She's a Sapphire Gem. Will lay brown eggs. Sapphire Olive Eggers have Tufts on their head and white earlobes. But Gems are awesome!!!! Love mine

Sapphire Olive Eggers from Hoover's Hatchery

I'm guessing Peekaboo is a Sapphire Gem. She might lay brown eggs. But she's gorgeous. They accidentally gave me a Gem instead of an Olive Egger but she is one of the most beautiful in my flock. Happy accident 🥰 Let me know how it turn out!

Sapphire Olive Eggers from Hoover's Hatchery

Beautiful colors! My Stormy (Sapphire Olive Egger) started laying first out of my new girls at around 18 weeks. They tend to start a little earlier than most it seems. Question: all my older hens lay lighter around eggs. My new ones are Easter eggers, Speckled Sussex, 1 Sapphire Olive Egger, 1...

Sapphire Olive Eggers from Hoover's Hatchery

Update: Dusty and Stormy Stormy is definitely a Sapphire Olive Egger and started laying at 17 weeks. Dusty however is looking like they gave me a Gem pullet on accident instead of an olive egger. But I'm actually happy about it. She's so beautiful. They both are but now I have both breeds so...

    Separate Rooster

I know they don't respond to time out. It was supposed to be funny. Thank you for the rest of the advice. I have separated my run to give him a place. If he doesn't get a new home he can stay stay there until it gets colder and then I'll try him with the girls again.

    Separate Rooster

You have one rooster separate from your flock?

    Separate Rooster

I wish I could keep the younger ones separate longer. But they're 17 weeks and almost to the point of lay and I don't have a whole separate coop for them with nesting boxes and a run. Some of them (Sapphire Gem & Sapphire Olive Egger) are almost the same size as the older hens (wyandottes...

    Separate Rooster

Has anyone ever kept a rooster completely separate from the hens? I introduced a 20 week old black Australorp rooster to my 8- 4 yo hens and he was doing great. It's been about a month he's been with them. Usually does the kittle wing dance for them to "ask permission". I have been introducing...

    8 week BYM chicks

Wow are they gorgeous!!! I think they're pullets. They have that sweet look about them. In addition to not having larger redder combs. Anyone else have the sense by their look? To me pullets have a demeanor about their face that's just softer to me. Lol
