If a flock of bantams and a flock of Barred Plymouth Rocks are kept together or free-range together, will they tend to breed within their own size, or will they crossbreed?
Would 24" wide, with almost a foot sticking out on either side of the roost, be wide enough for a poop board, or does it need to be wider than that for BPR and midget white sized birds?
I have young chickens and 4 midget white turkey poults, getting close to full grown now . . . they've all been together for several months with no ill effects. I just read that you're not supposed to keep turkeys and chickens together because of the risk of blackhead.
If they've already been...
I have Barred Plymouth Rock chickens and a few Midget White turkeys, plus some bantams that will probably end up with their own separate coop eventually. Wondering how far from the walls of the coop the roosts should be.

My turkey poults were raised by their mom without a lot of human interaction for the first month, I think. I'm trying to get them to warm up to me by feeding treats, but so far they haven't been much interested in what I've offered. They have little interest in mealworms, for some reason. The...
I picked up some quail, and they are a mix of regular coturnix, tuxedo, white and the Texas A & M white with wild-colored patches. One of the regular coloured ones is significantly bigger than the rest, and the white/Texas ones are actually the smallest. I did see one of the smaller white ones...
I just got some midget white poults, but I'm thinking I might like to get one or two turkeys that I could butcher for Thanksgiving. How old would they need to be now in order to be big enough to butcher in 6 weeks or so?
I'm also wondering what to expect as far as what age the midget whites...
I picked up 4 little midget white turkey poults last night, and at least one of them is singing--actual, sweet-toned multi-note singing, like a songbird. Do they always do that? I love the sound . . . what a delightful surprise.

I live in WA and was thinking of taking some of my Barred Plymouth Rock chicks to sell at the Oregon Fall Poultry Swap in Corvallis, but I'm not sure if there are any health certificate or vaccination requirements to bring poultry into OR from WA. Does anyone know?
Thanks,
