Mucoid poop, beginning lash egg, soft-shelled membrane...???

We're not out of the woods yet, but she's doing noticeably better since I started giving her the calcium. Her belly's still swollen, but her appetite is good, she's not hiding in the coop all day, and one of her poops I saw today had the most normal consistency I've seen from her in days (what a...

Mucoid poop, beginning lash egg, soft-shelled membrane...???

Here are some shots of the inside. I manipulated it for awhile, and there's nothing in the weird gelatin stuff - no other colors or bits. I can see the "skin" sac through it. Strange. And will do! I'm feeling cautiously encouraged by her perk-up after the calcium yesterday.

Mucoid poop, beginning lash egg, soft-shelled membrane...???

Hey, my girl Poppy's been under the weather for the past few days. Yesterday, she stayed put in the nesting box. Her belly was swollen - not massively so, but enough to be noticeable when I touched it - and she seemed like she was trying to lay and couldn't. No penguin walking/sitting, though...

    Fowl pox...?

Have I ever told y'all how much I love this community? 🥲💗 Thank you so much. I will definitely take care of these!

    Fowl pox...?

Hi friends! I'm pretty sure this is fowl pox, but wanted to get a second opinion. My girl Aubrey has had these for a couple weeks. Behavior is totally normal; weight, crop and appetite are healthy. My other 3 hens all have noticeably new pecking marks on their combs, but no signs of anything...

Watery eyes, yawning, occasional head shaking, otherwise normal.

Just wanted to update y'all! The beans have recovered and are doing great. :) Another couple weeks of quarantine and they'll be ready to integrate with my two older birds. So grateful for this forum's kindness and experience. <3 Thank y'all so much!!

Watery eyes, yawning, occasional head shaking, otherwise normal.

Thank you. 💗 I'll start them on Denagard and use VetRX to give them a little relief. Appreciate y'all so much.

Watery eyes, yawning, occasional head shaking, otherwise normal.

Here are some pictures. The bubbles are pretty clear on my Dominique. :( I have VetRX too, if that would be of any help.

Watery eyes, yawning, occasional head shaking, otherwise normal.

Thank you, friend. 💗 Custard was a special little lady and I loved her very much. I just added an update about a second pullet with a watery eye, actually! I noticed it this evening when I brought her in for heat stress. I think I saw little bubbles in the first one's eyes this morning, but I...

Watery eyes, yawning, occasional head shaking, otherwise normal.

Hey y'all. I just adopted three pullets two days ago, after losing my beautiful girl Custard in June. One of the girls has watery eyes, yawns quite a bit, occasionally shakes her head. These girls are about 4.5 months old, and they come from a local family-owned farm with a stellar local...

    "Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Just popping in to say hi from Algiers! Right now my flock is just my EE roo and my Cemani hen, but I'm hoping to add a couple more ladies to the flock soon. So glad we have a Louisiana thread!

Rooster's main lady is ill, should I add more hens?

Aw... thank you so much for checking in on her. Custard spent a week in the hospital, and passed away on her last day with them. She was pain-free from the moment she went to the vet. I miss her tremendously, every day, and so do Plum and Aubrey, although they've finally settled into a new...

Rooster's main lady is ill, should I add more hens?

Hey all, I've got a somewhat complicated dynamic here... and apologies for the wall of text. So I have three chickens: 1 Easter Egger roo (Plum), an Easter Egger hen (Custard), and an Ayam Cemani hen (Aubrey). Plum was one of those "totally a pullet, 100% a lady, trust me bro" situations, but...

Hen with soaked underside, mostly sits in the nesting box

The vet just called me a few minutes ago to say that she does have zinc in her, and they recommended taking her to get surgery at the university's vet school upstate from me. I'm not sure why chelation wasn't mentioned - I thought that would be the first suggestion - but then again, I'm not a...

Hen with soaked underside, mostly sits in the nesting box

Thank you so much for the insight. I'll definitely start giving her the tablets and see if that helps! I've checked the nesting box after I see her sit in it, and she hasn't been leaving wet spots in there recently, as she was before the lash egg. The only time I see drainage is when she's...

Hen with soaked underside, mostly sits in the nesting box

A little update: I found a lash egg on Wednesday and took her to the emergency vet. They found no signs of infection, but an x-ray pulled up two small pieces of metal that she's somehow ingested. 😩 Waiting on the results from lead and zinc tests. She's acting normal, eating and drinking fine...

Hen with soaked underside, mostly sits in the nesting box

Thank you! I appreciate this so much. I’ll just keep an eye on her for now.

Hen with soaked underside, mostly sits in the nesting box

My girl is roosting with the others now, and her crop is definitely full compared to it being empty this afternoon. More watery poop underneath her. No egg, soft-shelled or otherwise, and she refused the oyster shell when I offered. Comb and wattles are normal red. Should I give her a warm soak...

Hen with soaked underside, mostly sits in the nesting box

Yeah, that makes sense. Poor baby. :( I'll definitely do this.
