Unfortunately she did not make it… I still have the antibiotics ordered, do you think I should give to the rest of the flock just it case it was something viral? Also took your advice and ordered the oxine ah as well. What’s the best way to use it?
Okay. I will probably just leave them all together then. No discharge from eyes or nares. I’m going to order the Baytril you linked above. Hopefully she will be okay for a couple days while it comes in.
Okay thank you for your help. I can probably get her something today if I can find it at tractor supply or petco. Is the best antibiotic Baytril, or would something like penicillin work?
I used a small steam bottle. She didn’t really let me get much in her mouth, maybe an ounce or so of water? Mainly it was in her nostrils that go flushed, she did have a few small pieces of straw that I though might be causing it come out but it didn’t fix the issue.
I bought 6 females to add to my flock around a month ago. Around one week ago, one of the ducks started presenting symptoms. It started with a “squeaky” quack and she was shaking her head when she quacked. My first though was she was choking or clogged sinuses. I flushed sinuses and have tried...
‼️NEEDING TO REHOME MY DUCKS ‼️
I have 6 ducks that I need to rehome. I have had them since they were a few days old and they are used to being hand fed treats. The females just started laying around a month ago, and give one egg a day. I bought them unsexed and ended up with 4 males and 2...
Okay, thanks. I will be separating until I figure out what I’m going to do. I bought them unsexed. A 6:1 ratio means adding in 22 more females and that’s a lot of ducks haha. I have pekin (m), pekin (f), blue swedish (m), silver swedish (f), 2 rouen (m).
I have 6 ducks (2 females, and 4 males). They are around 6 months, and we just got our first egg. Recently, they’ve been showing signs of aggression which I’ve heard is common during mating season. They have been together since they were a few days old. I’ve noticed they’ve started ganging up...
Leg is still an issue, but neck is better!! Saw improvement after around 36hrs after adding in turmeric and oregano and grape seed oil to his morning mixture. He now turns it all the way around and extends in. Thinking he could have taken a fall or something and cramped it up. Still doing niacin...
he still has an appetite, and doesn’t seem to be losing weight. (It only started yesterday though) I will separate for feeding to make sure. His neck just seems very stiff, and he’s not moving it around as much as normal. Looks very similar to wry neck. I’ve read adding in brewers yeast and...
Noticed him as of yesterday, somethings weird with his neck. He hasn’t been extending it like the other ducks, and I even saw him laying with it on the ground (like almost as a dog would straight in front of him). When he walks it stays rested on his back. Never seen any other ducks do this. Any...
Wow thanks I had no clue! Any guesses on sexing from the pics? They are around 4 ish weeks. Only one that I can base quacking off of so far is the one flapping wings in pic. I think it’s a female, it’s pretty vocal haha.
Will pick some up today and start giving it to him. Thanks for your help, hopefully he will still be able to recover from it at this age. Would you recommend giving some to other ducks that don’t show symptoms as well?
I originally had a niacin I would sprinkle on the food but later found that time release and flush free didn’t stay in long enough to be absorbed. I have been doing brewers yeast ratio in the food and there has been no improvement. Should I try one of the suggested brands of niacin from the link...
Thanks for the help. He was stumbling a bit in the photo. We noticed around 2ish week he was swimming in circles and stumbling. Fit a niacin deficiency description to a tee, so we added in niacin. He never improved, and still stumbles. Dosent show any sign of being in pain though, and eats and...
Hi!! My ducks are around 4 weeks old. I bought them from a local feed shop and 4 were sold as Perkins. 2 are peckin, 2 are Mallords, and 2 are obviously something else. Any ideas on what they might be? When they were younger they looked just like welsh harlequin ducklings, but now I’m not so...
