Well looks like she’s going downhill fast. The only improvement that I have seen in the last 4 weeks is when she took the Panacur. As of now, when she tries to walk now she is just nose diving.
I clean her up every 2-3 days. I bought some anti-fungal cream to put on her vent area last night. I read somewhere that if it’s vent gleet to try that.
I’ve been trying to find out what is causing my chicken become inactive and have a white liquid discharge that runs down her back side. She eats and drinks but not real well. I’ve taken her to a vet but they rarely treat chickens. No other vets in my area. They ran stool sample and said she...
I currently have her in a cage in the garage due to the cold mornings we’ve been having. I do let her out in the temps get up. She’s around 27 weeks and has never laid but at this point I don’t care if she ever does. She’s my favorite and I just want her to get well.
Update 2: took her to vet this evening (we really don’t have a vet in our area that knows a lot about chickens). They tested her poop and said she had a lot of worms. They put her on 3 days of Panacur and Ponazuril. We’ll see how it goes. She’s still eating and drinking good so maybe nothing...
Update…she doesn’t appear to be egg bound but after watching her today her poop is a runny milky white. Has done nothing but lay around the yard by herself all day.
She hasn’t laid yet and not laying in nests. She’s eating and drinking but I can tell she’s not her normal self. I’ve checked her over but so far haven’t seen anything. Going to do the butt check as suggested by another user. Thanks for the reply.
My alpha hen hasn’t been herself the last couple of days. She has always been the first one out of the coop and the boss hen of the other ladies. The last couple of days she’s the last one out of the coop and constantly laying down away from the others. She does eat and drink. She is laying...
I have a hen who’s tail feathers are missing. She is the lowest in the pecking order. My mom noticed it this evening and told me that the others are probably pulling out her tail feathers. She was telling me about a spray to deter this type of behavior. Can anyone tell me what it is called...
