Just wanted to mention that Metzer said their system does not distinguish which facility they ship from based on location. We are in WA and thought we would get a shipment from CA (that's also why we ordered from Metzer) but instead our shipment came from Memphis. Thankfully they arrived quickly... -

I'm so sorry to hear about losing your duck to bumblefoot—we have also had issues with bumblefoot getting to the bone quickly, sometimes before a scab shows (or it's tiny). It seems that sometimes it just immediately heads into the bone and what can you even do to stop it if the bumble otherwise... -

We ordered 3 ducklings (2 Rouen, 1 Welsh Harlequin) that hatched Mon 4/4 morning and shipped that evening, but I was surprised that instead of coming from CA to WA (state) they were shipped from the new hatchery in TN. One of our ducks, mainly my 10yo daughter's ducks, just passed away today. She was an 11-month-old Rouen hen who had a stubborn case of bumblefoot for several weeks. We were doing all things we normally do (soaking, Vetericyn, pulled out infected plug and kept clean/wrapped after until scabbed... -

She's the little one on the left in the first picture. Her name is Demeter (the little drake's name is Poseidon 🤣). She flew again today and seemed even better this time around! Thanks so much for the support everyone! It's a huge relief when they turn out all right. -

Vet update: he didn't find any abnormalities and said she presented normally. (She is acting even more normal today, though.) He said we can continue to watch her and if any changes or worsens then we can do an x-ray. But with how she presented he didn't think there was an urgent need to x-ray... -

Another update that she is now walking normally, stretches her wings out, stretches her head up again as usual. More chirping and reacting to things around her (not quite at her normal but closer). Vet visit tomorrow. -

Also regarding her neck, she can move her head side to side and can stretch forward. We're watching to see if she can move it straight up. She is also calling for her friends now. 😅 -

Thanks for the replies so far! She is still quiet, but she quacks at my daughter when she sees her. We tried pulling her out of the box just to see if she was able to walk—she is, but slightly off balance. She also hasn't yet straightened out her neck (she keeps her head tucked down on her body).
