    White Rocks vs. Black Australorps

No reason not to mix them, both are good for what you are looking for. Australorps tend to be very docile. We would probably get both, just because we like variety, but just whatever you prefer. Neither have different needs or anything, no reason not to do both.

    Help treating chicken mites

Cut the DE, it can severely damage their respiratory symptoms if inhaled. Can you see if you can get one of these mites on a piece of clear tape and take a clear picture? Permethrin is good. Keep using that. Another thing we’ve had amazing luck with is Elector ESP, but it can be pricey. A...

It’s not uncommon for this to happen every once in a while, especially if they’ve just been chugging a bunch of water. Just keep an eye on her, unless it becomes a regular occurrence or accompanied by other symptoms, I see no need to worry.

Anyone know what this is? Rock? Scab?

Yes. Ideally it wouldn’t get to where it bleeds but if it does then put pressure, and stop. Go ahead and wrap the foot with Neosporin.

Anyone know what this is? Rock? Scab?

While it may be a gross way to explain it, have you ever popped a pimple that has not quite gotten to the surface yet? That's how we go about it. It can take a lot of squeezing to get the pus up and out. If you see blood don't freak out, totally normal.

Anyone know what this is? Rock? Scab?

Our typical approach is to pull the scab off, squeeze out any pus, soak in diluted iodine (a weak tea color is what we aim for) for about ten minutes, then fill hole with neosporin and wrap. If it's not a major case we will often skip the wrapping and just continue to reapply neosporin. You...

    Help! Rooster or Hen?

It’s male. Often when there is a dominant male in the flock the more submissive cockerels will take longer to crow.

    Swollen foot, no bumble?

Interesting. What does the swollen part feel like? Is it hard, squishy, or feel weird in anyway?

Is she eating and drinking? Any labored breathing?

    Saddles in Heat

Unless they seem to be causing issues personally I’d keep them on. Chickens are pretty resilient in the heat. Shade, ventilation, and water are key.

Marek's Vaccination in Unexposed Chicks Over a Day-old

This could work, however simply bringing the birds to your property to be vaccinated could expose them to the virus. Making it pointless. You want the birds to have no contact with the virus before the vaccine, and for a few days after to build up immunity. This is why it is best done on day old...

Nurture Right 360 beeping once every 20 mins

The beeping is usually a low temp alarm. Do you have an extra thermometer other than the built-in one in the incubator? You should also be able to disable the alarm by pressing the menu button.

    Swollen foot, no bumble?

Try washing the foot and seeing if getting all the dirt and muck off uncovers one. I’ve found that if it’s a small puncture the foot can still swell up significantly, but the actual bumble part can be easily hidden under muck and dirt.

    Gender ID, please…

Yes, the only pullet is the one in the first photo. You can post in your state thread, Craigslist, or you may be able to find a local livestock group on Facebook. Good luck finding new homes for them!
