It was day 22. Oh no, I probably killed that one chick didn't I 🤦.
It wasn't a forced-air incubator so I was running it a little warm. The room thermometer read 100-102, and the meat thermometer read 100, though it was sitting at the top of the incubator.
I had two thermometers, though admittedly I didnt calibrate them. And yeah I am kinda worried I may have killed that one chick withe the float test :(. Will they float even if they're alive?
This was my first attempt at incubation. I only had 5 eggs and a little giant incubator, so I wasn't expecting any miracles. Yesterday was the last day they had to hatch, and it came and went without any chicks. I float tested them today and they all floated, but before I threw them away I...
What I find additionally infuriating about planned obsolescence is how much it contributes to e-waste, and the huge toll on the environment and the lives of the people manufacturing these products. The free marketplace has selected for companies who make products that are not built to last...
There's definitely been a lot of precipitation, but the only time it flooded was bout a month ago. I was driving to a club and my car almost got submerged at one point lol. People were pulled over because conditions were so bad. I get kind of an adrenaline rush from driving in bad conditions...
No trust me I completely agree that facebook has indirectly(?) killed thousands of people for the sake of profit. However, without the technology we have today we wouldn't have had the tools to research and create the vaccine, or the means of distributing the vaccine as fast as we had...
I think when we weigh the pros and cons of technology it's pretty evenly balanced. People are more connected now, and that means they're more connected to share negative things (biases, misinformaiton, bullying) as well as positive things (wikipedia, tutorials, knowledge, the very forum we're...
I don't have a set water schedule because my plants all have different needs. My rule of thumb is waiting until the soil is bone dry and the leaves start to wrinkle before I water. The consistency of the soil is also pretty important, soil that holds onto too much moisture after watering can be...
Hey what's up! I don't have any chickens or fowl besides some quails eggs i'm illicitly incubating :) I'm nonbinary and this community has been very kind so far.
I'm waiting on being eligible for my booster shot :fl
I had no side effects after my first shot. The second one though was a bit of a roller-coaster lol. I was ok for the first 12 hours, but then I felt very feverish. anxious, and nauseous. I went down to rest my eyes and woke up 14 hours later...
I'm a city boy so I've never been hunting, though I would love to dip my toes in it! It's a shame how crazy the white tailed deer population is getting because their natural predators have been killed or chased off. I'm afraid of taking hikes without layers of clothes out of fear of getting lyme...
Thanks for the advice! I definitely need to get a stronger light source, that's why I wasn't confident in tossing any eggs (though I did accidentally break one of them the other day, whoops lol)
You are all wonderful people, thank you all for the warm welcome <3
Thank you for those resources! When I first took the little giant out of the box I thought the incubator was wrapped in the styrofoam to protect it during shipping... I guess I get what I pay for :p
Right thank you. So yeah those two eggs that lit up are most likely infertile, and I guess my flashlight isn't powerful enough to show any veins or blood rings on the eggs that appear to have something developing in them. Or at least that's what I'm hoping :fl
