Coop questions- auto door, and predator deterrents

I'm up in Powell. I used a heated waterer and I let them out everyday. My chickens free range but I do corral them into a fenced off area during the spring when we are putting our garden in. I ran two heat lamps in the coop this winter because it was just so dang cold, but generally if you can...

    The ol' mixed bag

It is indeed his plumage and he has tiny spurs coming in as well. His tiny attempts at crowing are pretty dang adorable.

After looking those that you mentioned I am inclined to agree on all counts.

    Three of this springs' chicks.

I agree. I have been scouring the interwebs looking at pictures, but as they are still young I'm not sure what they will actually end up looking like.

    Three of this springs' chicks.

So the white one is a rooster, but I don't know what breed they are. I got them at the feed store out of the "mixed rares" bin.

New flock assembled in NW Wyoming.

So he isn't the friendliest bird in the bunch, but I have gotten a fairly close look at his legs. They don't look any different than the other birds, but maybe they all need it. They were living in some pretty disgusting conditions before we got them. My wife and I started referring to it as...

There is the rooster and what I think is a polish hen.

I have 3 barred rocks, 1 Easter Egger, 1 naked neck, 1 Austrolorp, some kind of sultan rooster and either some kind of sultan hen or she may be a polish but she doesn't have the real puffy head plumage. They were all a rescue so I don't know for sure on the last two. The rooster has some Groucho...

New flock assembled in NW Wyoming.

Hello, I've had my chickens since April. A coworker had their HOA crack down and needed to get rid of their birds and coup. My wife and I had talked about chickens before and this seemed like a good opportunity. So far so good, I am really enjoying them.
