My chicken got too close to the gate/door and something (probably a cat.) took out all her tail feathers, was a bit bloody. I put antibiotic ointment on her & she's moving around a little bit better today. Just hoping she'll be okay & looking for some encouragement, I guess. I put a pallet in...
Why is my chicken losing her feathers in winter? I have 5 chickens, she's the older one. She was picking on them at first, but stopped after a while. Still doesn't like them, though.
I put pallets underneath the small chicken coop that's in the large chicken coop and filled it all the way around with cement chunks. Also, put plywood over the pallets inside the small coop to keep the chickens from falling through. PLEASE, tell me that if predators get inside the large coop...
The tops covered in chicken wire with some screen cloth over it, but I'll probably add more. I've been putting a board in the door gap, but would like to fix that, somehow.
They were in a small cage to bring them inside, but I temporarily put them in a large fabric dog container because I don't even want to put them outside, right now.
I cleaned it out and took everything out, but the small coop. My daughter said it was too crowded. They WERE hiding under the pallets the first time I went in there.
I didn't find any injuries. My daughter thinks she got smashed. Like, they got scared and huddled together too tight? We have a BIG coon I'm looking to kill!
