You and one other person have sensible decent replies. Everyone seems to forget that Roosters are breathing living beings and will act and react a certain way to certain things.
The shuffle dance, him dropping his wing to the ground and then walking (shuffling) sideways towards you, is him trying to tell you that he’s the boss. He’ll do the same thing to the hens...who may or may not listen to him.
I would avoid kicking any animal - would you like to be kicked? doubt...
Seems to me like you need to read about Roosters. I just read through all of these threads and people are saying to either get rid of him, bc he’s not doing what a roosters does, or make him into soup. Which are all stupid. You want solid advice, don’t get it from those who don’t know Chicken...
I’m not a Rooster expert, but I have been reading about them. And I’ve noticed that a lot of ppl on here and giving misinformation. You should really read a book written BY Professionals and not just those who have had chickens for a couple of years. There are Sanctuaries dedicated to Roosters...
Just bc they are from a hatchery doesn’t mean they are not going to have baby tendencies. This goes for animal living breathing animal. Animals have feelings too you know, they get scared, they get hungry, they get thirsty, they get sick, they get lonely, and babies can crave a extra attention...
