Hi, and thanks for reaching out. I haven’t been on in a while because I learned everything!😂😂😂
Seriously, though, I have just been so busy on our Homestead! Check out my YouTube channel @MadRiverHomestead.
Chickens, of course, were our first livestock, so I was spending a lot of time on...
Hi, do you remember posting this? I just got a steal on some 14 ga wire and was planning to use it to build rabbit cages. I was thinking about doing what one person said and overlaying 1/2x1/2, but just wanted to see how things worked out with yours.
Thanks all for the input. I knew it was a boy, just wanted to hear it from some pros. 😂😂😂 Also, he crowed for the first time, the day after my post.
So, if anyone near SW Ohio wants a roo, I’d love to give him the chance to find a home…free of course. Otherwise, I’ll have no choice but to...
Hello all,
I just wanted to get some opinions on whether you think this is a pullet or cockerel. The dad is a Faverolle, and I’m fairly certain the mom is a black sex link. Although I was pretty sure it was a pullet at first, because of the rounded saddle feathers, I am really feeling like it...

Here’s my YouTube...
Old post, but I’m really glad it was out there. I was really starting to worry after 6 days of my hen staying on the nest and eating a total of about a tablespoon of feed and a few bites of cornbread, my chickens’ favorite treat. I followed the advice, scrambled eggs, took her off the nest in my...
Final update…Big Chungus got through the coldest part of winter in his private coop/run I threw together. One evening a few weeks ago, he decided to go in the big coop in the evening after the day’s free ranging, and has been sleeping there ever since. Pretty sure he’s fine now…haha
I do not wash mine. I do have a sign sitting next to the cooler that explains the eggs come from happy, free range, chickens, and that I do not wash them in order to protect the bloom. I have some other info on it as well.
