We have four dogs, St. Bernard, Chow, Rat Terrier mix ( who love's to chase wild birds) and a chihuahua. You guessed it, the only one who messes with the chickens is the chi, she is smaller then the chickens! I have some new chicks that I will have to lay the law down about when I let them meet.
I have several different type of chickens, and they are named after co-workers and family members, Claire, Julie, Suzy, Roxy,JeanAnne, Jenny, Nona and one soap opera star.... Vivian! Plus there was the 'old bag" RIP. I also have several who remain un-named.
Wow, that is a little disturbing having a chicken fetus in your pocket. I had a egg crushed in my jacket pocket by my St. Bernard who bumped her head against me looking for a little affection.... Yuck
I have been using the larger size heated dog water bowl. It has been working great. I have it on a couple of cement blocks and it sits outside in the chicken run and have not had any ice in it yet.
Being a newbie chicken owner, I am wondering how freezing affects eggs? I noticed today that the sole, lonely egg I collected appeared to be pretty much frozen solid? I imagine it will defrost in the refrigerator. Will it affect the quality of the eggs?
