This happened to me with 1 of my new layers. She layed a soft shell a couple times and I was confused. I also had been giving them plenty of oyster shells. Someone on here gave me the advice to give them the egg shells after I used them. So thats what I did and the problem cleared up. I don't...
Last week we merged our old flock of 6, with our new flock of 7.
Before this happened I took these steps.
1) I had a new coop with run set up next to our other coops run, so the girls could see each other through the fence. This lasted about a month.
2) We built another run onto our old coop...
Awesome! Thank you! We got 2 more and added to the chicks we currently have. The buff orpington we got looks like you said about the juvenile molting. They all get along great and follow the lead of our Buff Orpington aka Buffy.

We just got our second flock. 6 Amuricanas. They have all their wing feathers and some are growing little tail feathers. We got them from Rural King. And they didn't tell us how old they were. Any ideas?
We are thinking the end of February or beginning of March. I kept all the old stuff from my first flock. And when they are ready for the outside, we are going to reuse the old coop. We are going to set it up next to the run, so our old flock and new flock can see each other through the fence. I...
