Hello all! I have a rescued "spent" ex-egg farm laying hen that just isn't going to be able to integrate into my main flock. I have her in her own separate coop/run and would love to find her a well-mannered buddy to live out the rest of her days with. Hen does not have to be laying, not picky...
When she was a chick growing in her hairdo, she had the CRAZIEST little rocker mullet going on! I thought she was a roo for a while lol! I just had to give her a rocker-worthy name.
Is digital art permitted (i.e. drawn/painted by hand in programs such as Clip Studio Paint, Procreate, Photoshop, etc)? Perhaps if a timelapse recording is posted as well to show that it's not cheated or stolen?
I don't currently have any chickens that have passed away (thankfully!) but I'm curious about something for when they do: those of you who bury your chickens, how do you not run out of space? Can you bury a chicken where another one was buried before after a certain amount of time?
It was really the biggest coop that fit in the optimal spot in the backyard. I would have spent a little more to get a slightly bigger one, but I started out with a teeny coop and rats were quickly an issue that REFUSED to be solved. The location I have it (against a concrete walkway on one side...
I'd like to add I'm in the city which is why I can't free range them all day. Local laws unfortunately. I normally let them out for a while every day and I've extended that to longer, twice a day, if it helps.
I have a (good sized) prefab coop, but it's not the world's biggest. It's big enough in theory for at least 6 chickens I'd say, but as far as finding good places to put more feed areas etc, that isn't the easiest. I can definitely try to add a second one as far as possible from the first one...
Hello all! I'm currently trying to integrate 2 17/18wk pullets with my two adult hens. This is the first time expanding the flock. My adult hens haven't been terribly violent with them establishing the pecking order, but it's been about two weeks, and the pullets were in an adjacent coop/run to...
I'll do my best to remember to update. The chick has a very sweet personality, it loves being held and taking naps in your hands. I hope it catches up and turns out to be able to live a normal, full life.
