I rehomed her with two of her flock mates to someone who keeps their birds in pins so she can be familiar with her enclosure. My birds free range and she wouldn’t go in at night. She was definitely blind.
When I move toward her she usually does not move and goes crazy when I pick her up like I’m killing her. She ran into the feeder earlier. I feel like she’s listening for her flock more so than seeing them. She was way across the yard today when I got home underneath my banana tree nowhere near...
Thank you. I do plan to eliminate their run and coop once they’ve decided they want to join the older flock. In my experience the pullets will eventually follow the hens into the big coop. I really hope she catches on. Worse case, I’ll keep two coops and hopefully a few will stay with her.
Thank you. She definitely is not as vocal as everyone else. I’ll try to get a better video when she’s really acting off and test out her hearing. She doesn’t seem to know I’m reaching in to grab her until I touch her and she freaks out.
Thank you. I can get a picture of her eyes tomorrow. She does spin in circles. I thought she was clumsily chasing a bug but she was just spinning in circles. And twice she was far off in the yard at dusk nowhere near the coop and run. She doesn’t blink but I’m going to try the finger in front of...
My guesses are some sort of maran, barred rock, and maybe a variety of araucana or easter egger.
The variety I bought was a mix of purebreds and Easter eggers so the ones with beards and/or tufts I presume are Easter eggers but I’m hoping for at least one araucana.
Thank you!
Hi. I bought a rainbow variety of chicks from a hatchery. One chicken has always been a little standoffish and I’m just now realizing it may be blind.
I started letting them out of the run into my yard recently and that’s when I noticed she gets lost and mopes around slowly.
Do you think...
Hi. I think I also have a blind chicken. She was from a rainbow assortment from a hatchery. I think she’s an Easter egger. She’s all black with black legs, a rose comb, and has tufts.
She’s always been standoffish to her flock. She lays down a lot. And she keeps getting lost and is roaming the...
Thank you. I guessed that the blue and brown one was a blue wheaten Ameraucana. And I did not even consider a leghorn! There are two white ones with orange. One has quite a bit of orange while the other one has only a hint of it in its wing feathers. I also guessed that one of the black ones...
