We also just moved so they have a tiny pool for now while we set up their new pool. Hopefully she'll be okay once we finish the pool since she hasn't really been in the water as much as before. The other duck is kowalski which is on the right and Alex on the left which is the sick one right now...
She's eating and drinking just fine, I can tell she's more lively with the antibiotics and pain killers since she's quacking more again! But there was no egg shells inside her just the egg yolk so that's still not good for her :( I'm hoping she'll make it through since my other duck would be...
Hi everyone i wanted to come back on here and explain what's happened, so I wasn't at the vet when she got help it was my parents and I just found out that she has egg yolk peritonitis. Which kind of sucks because she's literally our baby and it's really hard to cure. Right now she's just so...
We did take her to the vet and they did X rays, they said that they wanted to do exploratory surgery but she'd be awake the whole thing since anesthesia doesn't work on ducks or somwthing like that and I don't want to put her through that. Not only that the closest duck surgeon is 6 hours away...
I went to the vet today and was told my mallard had an egg popper inside her and her body was infected and that she has a low chance of survival. Has anyone dealt with something like this? We have her on antibiotics and medicine to try and deal with the infection inside of her but I'm just...
The only person I'd think to call is the vet, since we don't have any humaine shelters that take anything BUT dogs and cats. I live in the middle of nowhere you'd think that they'd help every type of animal 😭
My other male duck doesn't like him wo they've really never got along, I only have two males and melman the one that I've had for the longest only stays by the two female ducks he was raised with
I'm currently in a dilemma, one of my previous duck had died cause one of my male ducks would grab the back of her neck constantly where she was missing feathers and since she was smaller she couldn't do anything. My other two small female ducks are facing thr same problem and my second make...
I also don't believe that they killed her but they did cause her to weaken since my brother had gotten her out and took her inside to tend for her wounds this morning and in the afternoon she later passed
I understand this as well since there's always a possibility. My mom said that she left for a few minutes before returning and seeing Alex biting her. She also mentioned the bites looked like the duck bites so im not so sure anymore
Sorry I might have gotten the wire wrong it's cloth wire I believe. Also my mom said that it wasn't another animal since she saw my duck biting her butt where all the bites were located
It wasn't another animal since my mom said she saw them picking at her, I belive as another user said it was a wire cloth that I use? It's meant to keep them safe from predators.
I just asked my mom and she told me that they weren't big bites from a predator she said she saw my ducks picking at her and she had bites all over her butt so I genuinely don't think it was from another animal
It's maybe not chicken wire I'd probably have to ask what specific wire but it'd meant to keep ducks and chickens safe. I see others online who use the wire to keep out foxes and other predators. It has very small holes made to keep them out. Sorry I don't really know specifics since I'm not...
I'm sorry I'm trying to answer the replies quickly but the replies keep coming to quick that I can keep up. I know know what kind of wire but I'm sure it's called chicken wire but it's the one that has very small holes
The pen is small compared to the amount of ducks we have since we combined them so we are trying to make them a bigger enclosure it I'd also chicken wire I believe? One side of the wall is made of a wood fence and the others are metal fence
