Hi! My Barred Rock is almost a year old. Her head is bald and her comb doesn’t look right to me. Another one of my Barred Rocks has a tiny spot balding on her head too. The Rhode Island Reds and White Leghorns look completely normal. They have been together their whole lives. I haven’t seen any...
Hi! I live in Gates County, NC. I need to re-home 5 cockerels (see pics). They are 14.5 weeks old. I want them to go to good homes. Please let me know if you are interested. Thanks!
Thanks! I hatched them in my classroom and kept 10. Six of them turned out to be roosters. I have 11 pullets so I can only keep one. I’m going with the White Leghorn because of his adorable personality. I am so sad to part with these guys though.
Hi! I am getting ready to re-home these roosters. Please confirm that they are roosters. They are 14 weeks old. Number 4 had a tail just like 3’s. I don’t know who plucked his feathers, but I inspected him and he has a bunch of new green feathers growing in. None of them are crowing or trying to...
Thanks for your response. I hope they are all pullets. The BR’s combs photographed redder than they appear in person. Number 5 has bigger legs and feet, which concerns me. 🤞
Hi! I purchased these chicks on May 2nd from Tractor Supply. They were about 2 weeks old at the time, which is why they were on sale. I think they are 6 weeks old now. They were not sexed. The workers performed the muscle test to determine that these were pullets (hopefully). 3 are barred rocks...
Could this 7.5 week old chicken be a pullet or is it definitely a cockerel? I know it has a long comb and waddle, but it is much lighter in color than the ones I know are cockerels. Does color matter? Thanks!
Thanks! That’s what I was thinking. I was really hoping that one of the other RIR’s was a pullet because someone last week said to give one of them more time to determine. I hatched them in my classroom. It looks like I have 4 pullets out of the 10.
These chicks are 6 weeks and 2 days old. I have been posting pics of them for weeks trying to determine their genders, but was told I would have to wait until they were this age. Please let me know what genders they are. Thanks!
Hi! I purchased several chicks from Tractor Supply a couple of weeks ago. I’m guessing that they are approximately 4 weeks old now. I thought for sure this was a female because of the darker feathers and feet, but it is already showing red wattles. Is it possible that it is a female, or does...
