Hi I wanted to thank everyone for their help and advice. My girl is back to her non broody self. You all helped me get through my first broody experience and I appreciate it so much. I have tons to learn and I know with your help my girls will be very happy. Thank you 😁
The other s had access, but not her. This was so mentally hard. I felt so bad for her. So far she seems to be over it. I think. The nest is open today, my husband didn’t know and opened it, and she didn’t go in there at all. 🤞🏼
I’ve been opening the nest door for the other two during the day. They all slept in the coop but not inside where the nests are. I was going to do that again. Do you think that is ok?
Ok great. Thanks so much for your help. I’ve been letting the other two girls inside the coop during the day when they go near the door so they can nest. When I do this is when it upsets the broody one. Should I just keep all three out of the coop during the day? is it bad to keep the other two...
Would it be ok for the girls to roost in the coop, but not inside the area where the boxes are? My coop is covered and has a roof on one half of it. There is also a roosting bar.
She is out but mostly paces around the coop trying to find a way in. I’m glad she’s not seriously broody. I didn’t raise her so she doesn’t let me touch her. None of the three do. I can only pick her up when she’s in the box and she usually bites me first. Lol
She is out in the yard from early am until dusk. I keep the coop door closed. She is in there at night though. Do I need to keep her from going in there at night? I have two other hens so I’m so confused on what to do.
Ok thank you. I feel so sad for her. I take her out and give her strawberries and apples right away. She loves them. its so hard to watch her walking around the outside of the coop desperately wanting to go in. I am glad she is eating and drinking water during the day. She loves her mealworms...
I don’t have a rooster. I’m new to being a chicken mom and through all the research I’ve done it seems the consensus is to break her. It’s killing me though. I dont know if I should just let her do what she wants to do. I’m worried that she will get sick if I do. I’m completely lost. I adopted...
Hi I am brand new to having backyard chickens. Last month I adopted three of my neighbors hens when his flock wouldn’t accept the new girls. There were originally four and were unprotected since the chickens would not let them in their coop. They would roost in one of his trees at night and...
