I am having to do this for the first time. I bought a 10 ml bottle on eBay 2 1/2 years ago. First time to need it. I’ll use it but I wonder if I should order more. It wasn’t cheap even for this small bottle.
Thanks for your support and interest in my dilemma (or obsession)! Happy for the outcome! Enjoyed the anticipation (sort of!)
Was fun to watch her today. She would run to the coop (like she thought the egg was about to pop out!). She’d stay a while and leave and soon after run back! Kept...
If I had only waited a couple days I would have had my answer. But now I have the answer and I’m so pleased!
Today I stalked my girls! My Astralorp and Prairie Bluebell kept taking turns going into the nest. I looked so many times, each time one would leave. Finally after the PB was in...

I first noticed my Prairie Bluebell squatting on July 14. Today is July 22. Googling I read that once they squat they lay within the week. It’s been 8 days. So would that mean she has laid and if I don’t have a blue egg by now then one of the brown eggs is hers? I saw her in the nest...
Orpingtons usually lay later from what I have read. I saw the Prairie Bluebell in the nest this morning. I may have just been too anxious to know when I should know soon anyway. I haven’t gotten two of these light brown eggs on the same day. I put my fingers between the bones under the vent...
I have a 2 year old Black Astralorp. I will attach a pic of one of her eggs with the one in question. The one in question has a brown circle area and it’s the 3rd I’ve had like it.
I have 2 5-month Polish but their eggs should be white. I have a 5-month Lavender Orpington but I don’t think...
Does this happen? I have a Prairie Bluebell and I’m afraid she may be the one laying light brown eggs. If so, what a disappointment as I got her for her blue eggs. I guess I should have researched a little more. 😞
Hi all. I have a 5 month old Prairie Bluebell Egger. She is squatting every time she sees me. I’ve been getting an egg that could possibly be from my black Astralorp. It really doesn’t look like her eggs but it’s a light tan and hers are a light brown and I know color glitches can happen...
I thought it was early. She was teasing me! It’s also really hot and we just went through a hurricane. But all is well. I keep going out and asking where’s my green egg??
Congratulations!! My olive egger laid her first egg on July 1 (10 days ago). At 14 weeks. She hasn’t laid another. I go out and check all the time. Does anyone know if this is normal?
She was a surprise chick. I first got a white crested black polish and for some reason she died after a week. The place I got her from gave me a replacement and I chose the gold laced black. When she met me to give me this one she had the buff in the box as a surprise. I was shocked and...
She is sweet and lets me hold her even tho she’s not laying or squatting yet (I have to trick her to get her but once I have her she is calm). This is Ethyl and my gold lace is Lucy. I bet there are a lot of Lucy and Ethel polish hens!
Thank you! I used to think olive was not a pretty egg color! This was beautiful! I love the variety of colors we can have! I have 4 2 year old hens and now 5 littles. So exciting. I should get another blue (Prairie bluebell), a brown (lavender Orpington) and two white (Polish).
