Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I had the chicks separated for a 3-4 days, and the “lonely” chick who had been pecking the others got over my makeshift brooder divider overnight. I let them interact and watched them and there were no issues all day, so I took the divider out. Everyone...
Thanks for the article link! I’ll definitely try a few of these things tomorrow. Like that said, the poor thing is probably stressed out since I just brought them home so I’m afraid that I’m making it worse by bothering her. 🙈😬
You can kind of see in that photo, I had my kid draw some little dots and shapes to see if that would help before I separated them, it didn’t. 😬 I also tried just sitting there for a while gently pushing the chick away from the others any time it would peck, but as soon as my hand was gone she...
Hello, I’ve raised baby chicks a few times and I’ve seen them pecking before but this is on another level. 😳
I brought home 4 chicks this morning and set them up in the brooder. One chick immediately started aggressively pecking and grabbing the other chicks around their eyes. Once they settled...
I just did a quick google search and that looks pretty similar, the leg color really threw me off.. she’s the only one I have with darker legs. I’m comparison, this is the other one that’s supposed to be a Starlight Green and she looks much different!
Hello everyone! You’ve all been so helpful to me in answering my various questions about breeds haha, so I’m here with another one! The attached image shows our bird Sage, and I’m curious what y’all think her breed is? She’s supposedly a “Starlight green eggar” but looks absolutely nothing like...
Hi! This is Gretchen, a Naked Neck that I bought as a chick. She was supposedly sexed as a pullet but I think she looks like a rooster. Can anyone tell? She’s about 14 weeks old, but I’ll including photos showing her “growing up” in case that’s helpful.
If you answer and you have time to...
Thank you! I was pretty sure A was a Welsummer, what confused me is that the other 2 then have to be Starlight Green eggers and they look completely different from one another (especially chick C with the dark feet) but as I’ve learned in this thread, they probably just have different parents. 🤷♀️
Thank you! I’ve really been enjoying them! 🥰 I brought them home on May 10th, so they’ve got to be at least 3-4 weeks old, but I think a few of them may be older than the others.
At the advice of @HeatherKellyB I took some photos while cleaning out the brooder today that show coloring much better without the red light. This is the first good photo I’ve gotten that shows chick C’s legs.
Thank you for the welcome everyone!
Hi, this is my first post here so hello!
I Have 3 chicks that I’m having trouble identifying. They all came from a store, so I know they could have different parents and be different ages, etc. There are 2 Starlight Green Egger and 1 Welsummer, I can’t tell which are which! :barnie Here’s what...
