My Indian Runner Ducks making Strange Sounds

My boy's voice is low and frog-like. Very distinctive. It's funny when they all riled up -- I can tell them all apart and even guess what they are up to if they are out of eyesight. They communicate just like any other species. :)

My Indian Runner Ducks making Strange Sounds

I agree with Lauraduck. I think they need lady friends. They are very social animals and the boys can be quite randy. lol

    Day-old Indian Runner Ducklings beginner!

They are easy and so much fun. You will enjoy them. They love to forage. Just make sure they have a safe place to sleep at night and clean water. When they get older, they love to eat peas and lettuce. Boys sounds like frogs (deeper voices) and girls are louder and more feisty but still sweet...

    Rooster sleeping in tree

I had a hen that preferred to sleep up in a tree. I think it is totally fine. She lived a long time. I a!ways knew where to find her after dark.

    Rooster with an Attitude

Update: My friend took the rooster off my hands because he got tired of seeing all the puncture wounds on my legs. He lives out in the country and a pack of wild dogs raided his coop and ate him. I feel bad but I don't think he could be rehabilitated and I was tired of getting attacked in my yard.

    Very aggressive Golden Laced Wyandotte

I am having the same problem with mine. He gets along with all of my other birds but attacks me randomly. I wonder if he thinks I'm one of his "women" who just won't "get in my place." I have been told that I should get rid of him, but I don't have the heart to kill him or rehome him either...

    Duck attacked

I nursed mine back to health in the bathroom. I think the brooder light helped her heal quicker. The heat. I used a dressing and antibiotic spray from Tractor Supply. Tended her frequently. Kept her away from siblings because they nipped at her. It was heartbreaking for a week but she survived...
