my ducks definitely do lay and sleep wherever they want ! but i still wanted to have them a nesting box , or some sort of little house , that they can have access to when it's windy and rainy or cold during the winter , and if they wanted to lay their eggs there , or , although they are...
hi ! so i was wondering if it'd be better to have a nesting box inside or outside of my duck enclosure.
i have a 12 x 12 and a 10 x 10 attached to each other. the 10 x 10 has a 2 x 2 nesting box attached to the outside , completely closed with a lock. i haven't had any issues with predators ...
i was debating it and i decided i would go check their growth one more time before making my final decision and guess who left the nest and killed them.. as sad as it is, at least the decision was made :(
hi!! quick explanation;
newt (mother) and buzzard (father) had ducklings two years ago. three of them ended up surviving, along with a boy.
the next year, i get two more ducklings from where i had bought buzzard so they might've been his siblings, half siblings, etc.
tokki, buzzard's son, mates...
hey once more! so my east indie, mantis, has been acting a bit strange lately! shes 7 weeks and 5 days old and im not sure if shes feeling down or if its her teenage phase.
mantis was hand raised alone for about two weeks so she and i were really close, we always hung out and she always wanted...
i know.. i just needed to know how long to keep it on for the first few days before switching to all day..
+ if i should keep it off during the night or not
so unfortunately mantis has angel wing on both wings!! i think it mightve been genetics since her two brothers that have been on the same food etc dont have it.. either way, i wanna fix it! i found a very loose sock and cut it short enough to only cover her wings. pictures below
mantis is a 7...
Oh my, I'm really not sure at all since I'm not much of an expert. If the vet said to leave her there for the weekend, it might be the best bet. Again, I'm not 100% sure but I'll send prayers and I hope she gets better :(
I gave her a warm bath for around 10-15 minutes and I gave her a tum dissolved in water (since she wouldn't eat it orally) she ended up pooping out yolk and got better with the baths. I'm no expert but I'd say warm baths, broken tum and make sure to carefully remove egg shells near her vent...
I don't think Mantis is trying to be mean - she lays down next to them and gently tries to go near and once shes close, she nibbles them. She's always been sweet but nibbles too hard. I wonder if after a day or so, she wont bite them as hard?
Today I bought two call ducklings for my black east indie, Mantis. They seem to like each other though Mantis bites a bit too hard out of curiosity. They are a blue bibbed and black bibbed.
They don't have names yet but I'm thinking of naming them Calico and Lyoki. Also, Mantis is 2 weeks and 3...
