it's more of a maroon color when you look at him with the naked eye. he's a beautiful little guy and i really wish i liked roosters but, he'll have a great life with the gal that contacted me. he'll have his own little harem of 14 girls his age ;) thank you so much for helping with this.
I dont want any roosters and this one has me baffled, it crowed yesterday, a feeble crow but a crow just the same. 8 weeks old, ayem cemani father, olive egger hen (silver/blue colored) hatched from a green egg.
i've had suspicions of this little diamond being a neal and i dont want to rehome...
these are fathered by an ayem cimani, the mothers are random, i'm pretty sure one is an easter egger because of the puffy cheeks. I think the one is a roo and praying the puffy cheek one is a pullet. my little bantam hen went broody so we gave some eggs from a friend of mine.
I bought a bag of scratch from local feed store and it was very dusty, they wouldn't touch it. i wonder if it was cob dust? i'm glad you mentioned this, thank you
does it matter? I think if someone wants to comment on a thread they should be able to whether the thread is 2 months old or 2 years old. if someone has something to add they should be able to add it.
added note, the chick needs chick starter crumbles it'll need to eat and drink no later than the 3rd day after hatching, mom does not need layer feed for a while especially if she is broody, they stop laying eggs
I just went through this with a little bantam hen in with my Wyandotte, lt brahma, sapphire and Australorp. she did absolutely fine in the nest with the other girls in there as well, however, her nest box was much too small for the other girls to even think about getting in. once the eggs...
all i put in the nest box was some pine shavings, about 2 inches deep. the hen moves it around to make it the most comfortable for her. the eggs shouldn't crush or crack just from her weight, you might need to put out a dish of oyster shell crumbles
it's an egg that hasnt hatched yet. but thanks. i'm new here and didn't realize that the person hadnt posted in 5 years. I just saw that it was the same breed combination that this egg is. it's being hatched by a little old english bantam, but the rooster is a cemani and the hen is an easter...
