Standing up not perching down on roosting bar while sleeping

Thank you for this information! I also love the pictures of your chickens! My one hen laid early in the morning (6 am) and this is her first week laying ever (she’s 23 weeks) so I’m thinking she was uncomfortable due to the egg. She seemed to relax after laying. I checked them for mites and...

Standing up not perching down on roosting bar while sleeping

I recently installed a camera in my coop since my ladies started laying and I was trying to see who what laying what. I’ve noticed two gals stand on the roosting bar most of the night instead of perching down tucked in like the others. Picture below of one for reference. They appear to be...

What is my olive egger a mix of?

You were Right! She she just laid an egg on me and it’s speckled dark brown. I hope they stay this way but I know they can change/lighten up/lose speckles.

    Who laid? (Butt/vent pics included)

New egg this morning. I’m thinking it’s my “olive egger” due to being maran and seeing her interested in the nesting boxes but I’ll be measuring booties later

    Who laid? (Butt/vent pics included)

This was very helpful! Thank you. I may have to try the pelvic bone measurement because these vents are starting to blend together and look the same for a few of my gals. Haha I was hoping someone would be able to spot a for sure indicator I’m not experienced enough to see 😅

    New Eggs! Can you confirm?

https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/who-laid-butt-vent-pics-included.1561441/ If it’s not too much trouble would you mind looking at my other post linked above with pictures of vents? I’m still struggling a little with 3-4 of my girls vents looking similar 😅 the 5th I feel I can rule out...

    Who laid? (Butt/vent pics included)

Got our first two eggs from our flock of 5 two days ago in the morning. I doubt they’re from the same chicken since i had last checked and cleaned the coop 18 hours before I found both eggs in the morning. We’re trying to figure out who did it. Can you help based on these vent pics? All...

What is my olive egger a mix of?

Thanks for this info! She’s from mt healthy hatchery and unfortunately I only have their word to go by. Excuse my very beginner question (I’m also a super curious person) but is there any way her comb is from her maran genes?

What is my olive egger a mix of?

This is Hoagie Elizabeth Wizwit. Hatchery information said “Our Olive eggers are f1, meaning first generation, and are bred from Black Copper Marans, Welsummers and Ameraucanas.” I’m thinking she’s Black Cooper Maran (brown tones on her neck feathers) and Ameraucana (her lovely beard and...

    Blood in poop

Thank you so much for this! I’ve been working outside all day so I could see their stools and so far they look okay and have been acting normal with eating and drinking just fine. One of my hens (don’t know which yet) just started laying yesterday but other than that no new changes! Hoping it...

    Blood in poop

We were so happy after getting our first eggs yesterday only to find what appears to be blood on some poop today. Could this be coccidiosis?
