They’re really tough, but I got a few cut open. Still good to feed?

Over-Ripe Yellow Squash - Safe to feed?

These are summer squash and when overripe, they get a bitter taste. I’ve never given my chickens any kind of squash except a pie pumpkin last year, soI just wanted to double check and make sure they were okay.

Over-Ripe Yellow Squash - Safe to feed?

hello, all. I have been gone a while, but I’m back on the forums to ask a question. Earlier this year, my grandfather got the whole garden planted, but then he threw his back out around the time the squash bloomed. We didn’t expect anything to be out there, so we never checked it. last...

    Rhode Island Red/Easter Egger cross

I do! My little girl lays green eggs. Her dad was a RIR and her mum was an EE. She didn’t get the muff like her mum and looks just like a RIR, but with interesting eggs!

Rooster seems sad after the passing of his favorite hen

Update: I have put him in a tractor near my other coop with an older hen my grandfather has retired. He seems to be doing better and is crowing again, eating, and looking after Big Red (the hen).

Rooster seems sad after the passing of his favorite hen

There are two other boys in the coop. They’ve always just left each other alone, but With the new dynamic, I don’t know how it will play out over the next few days/weeks

Rooster seems sad after the passing of his favorite hen

No, but the two of them never cared for any others In the coop except their two kids that Bertha hatched out last year, but even then, they merely tolerated them after the baby stage

Rooster seems sad after the passing of his favorite hen

Hey, guys. I don’t know for sure if this is the right thread to put this in, but I could really use some advice. My oldest hen, Bertha, suddenly passed today. Sweet girl has been sitting on eggs all week and has been perfectly fine. The rest of the flock is fine. I think she was just ready to...

    Is this chickweed?

I’m actu I’m actually letting a bunch of it go to seed now so I can harvest for next year. I have this idea of growing a weed garden for my chickens next year. I don’t have the space mapped out to do it this year (there’s currently potatoes and pumpkin where I would grow it), but next year for...

So I am addicted to this app now. My aunt looks at me like I’m insane while I’m snapping pictures of random plants.

    Is this chickweed?

Awesome! We, unfortunately, can’t free-range because of wildlife threats, but I made a massive coop/run (coop is 8’x5’, run is 24’x24’) for my 11 babies (not actually babies, but ya know) and just planted them a garden, too! I wanted to make sure this weed was safe before I added it to their garden.

    Is this chickweed?

I keep seeing a weed pop up around my parents’ house and my mum wants it gone. I think it’s chickweed, but I’m new at identifying weeds that are edible (I just moved here last year) to feed my chickens. Could someone look at this picture and tell me if it’s chickweed, and whether or not I can...

My hen and roo have hatched 14 chicks…ALL Roos…unless?

This baby is nearly 7 weeks old. All of the siblings from the same hatch have some decent sized waddles and a larger comb with more colour. Any chance this beautiful baby is a hen?
