A late entry all that way from Australia!
Here is my young boy Abraham. He’s 5.5 months old, and a salmon Faverolles.
I’ve entered him our first poultry show in June!
If anyone would like to help a wee Faverolles pullet to win me some prizes, please feel free to vote daily until the 30th April 2023!

We’re currently hovering around 4th/5th place. I’d...
I do love them ❤️ Some babies between 4-6mo. Building up my breeding base for next year. I shall be living vicariously through all your northern hemisphere hatches!
It has been difficult finding Faverolles in Australia. I think I have some promising birds. Not show winners, but I have to start...
Yes, unfortunately it’s only palliative care from here as there’s no known cure. It can be managed by complete puff ball immersion - which is a bit counter-intuitive!
At this stage, I agree with your intuition!!
I believe it’s a fungus. Closely related to the ‘puffball’ fungus to poof spores everywhere! Not poisonous, but can multiply quite quickly.
Causes slight derangement. You’ll find yourself saying, “oh no darling, I have no idea where these extra puff ball fungus things came from. But aren’t...
In this pen, only Faverolles and the single frizzle pekin (bantam Cochin) rooster. It’s completely enclosed, no one can get in or out. So I’m 100% sure of the parentage.
Free ranging I have a salmon Faverolles rooster, and an eclectic mix of acquired hens (vorwerk, wyandottes, elderly salmon...
Unfortunately none of the first round of attempts received the frizzle gene. I’m coming into winter, so no further attempts for a few months.
I am preparing with a couple of different birds to add into the next season.
However, it has been a good learning opportunity as they have a number of...
I am planning to get this Faverolles cockerel and the person that bred him as informed me he is growing some white feathers on his head. The breeder hasn’t mentioned if there is other white feathers hiding on him.
I cannot view him as he’s a plane ride away! He’ll be transported in a couple of...
You could contact your local poultry club to get a referral on who might be selling good quality Faverolles.
Maybe even go to a show and talk to someone that is exhibiting them?
I’ve recently purchased four Faverolles pullets to help boost my breeding base and I’m hoping to get a quality male fairly soon. Spring is in September, so I have some time yet.
I have learned enough to realise how little I know! It’s been tricky to find good information on how to create a nice...
A quick Google indicates you are correct!
All the fun things to pop out later as a throw back! 😆 I’m sure there will be more recessive or unexpected genes that’ll throw challenges my way!
Four salmon Faverolles and three pekin (bantam Cochin) x Faverolles chicks. They are all three weeks old.
Despite the small paternal size, the black chicks are rivalling the size of the large Faverolles chicks. It will be interesting to see their final adult size. The bantam mixes are very...
I’m hoping so! These three are looking like they didn’t get the frizzle gene, I’ve got another batch in the incubator. Hopefully, the frizzle rooster has lifted his game and fertility is better! They’re due on the 14th Jan, so hopefully more success there.
Hahaha! Which is why I normally paint alla prima and fairly loose.
Oils are great at being able to correct mistakes 🥸 water colours terrify me, I think I need to plan to much but oils I can throw on there with not much prep.
Oils on gesso sealed handmade paper.
I haven’t painted any chickens yet, but this is my most recent work. I normally use oils but my best client needed a gift before Christmas so acrylic paint was used.
