10 days left until hatch for my blue bresse and I’m down to six. I’m not surprised with shipping this time of year in Canada and the time they took to get here. I do have someone local now I can get white bresse from so that’s a plus.
I’m doing kind of a gamble and replacing non viable eggs...
Day 5 check in and 10 look good! I swapped out one of own chicken eggs due to low probability and put in a couple barred rocks I purchased. Barred rock were the reason I fell in love with chickens (seeing people with them on my road) and I’ve never had them!
I also bought 9 day old chicks...
I have just put blue bresse in the incubator yesterday and hoping for sustainable meat birds.
Hoping this thread keeps up and has some tips. I’ve read about the French method for finishing but always looking to see what people’s personal experience is.
I plan to hatch out and finish some in the...
Sorry to hear about the attack. The green is definitely a gorgeous color!
How many did you set? I only have 12 spaces in my incubator but considering getting a hovabator to do more
This little silver baby is so cute!!!
Today I grabbed an egg from who I think is my splash Cochin girl to put in with the bresse eggs since I had one space. I’m thinking it won’t be fertile but might as well try. Roo would most likely be my brahama ameraucana mix.
Found my adapter! It wasn’t the wrong one after all 😒
5 or 6 eggs for sure saddled right now and one loose. One egg cracked and has an impact point so no let even trying. Eggs are in and the countdown is on!
Joining in!
I just got my shipped eggs this morning sitting out getting to room temp. I’m going to put them in tonight after checking on them under the light.
I haven’t hatched anything out since last spring so I’m excited!
I got 12 blue bresse on a holiday deal and couldn’t resist!
Oh I love them! I just got two Welsh harlequin a month ago and I’m in love with them even though they aren’t In love with me lol.
Hatched out a couple Swedish blue (maybe?) two weeks ago. The eggs were from a mixed flock I believe.
Not the best pictures but here they are!
Both unsteady on legs and hock walking. Perhaps some curving on feet too. Picked up some Brewers yeast for their food and may need to tape for splay.
I think I may have a black Swiss and blue Swiss but I’m really not sure!
Quite the downpour here tonight!
Both eggs have hatched out within minutes of each other ❤️
My only intervention was to make a small hole in the membrane of the pip of my egg that pipped on the right end. One may have some leg splay. Will see how they do when up and about.
I will get...
Thank you again. I will make note of times and plan my schedule :)
I know everyone knows it about this site but everyone is so helpful with their experience! So thankful ❤️
Thank you for replying!
No bruise and no safety hole made. Noticed pip at 9pm last night so I’m glad it seems I can safely wait.
I’m not sure if she broke through the membrane much but lots of wiggling so I’m wondering if she may be repositioning on her own.
