She’s been off for a while now. Had serious mating injuries that have healed up great. Just noticing this on her breast after doing a check in on her. It’s hard and like a big circle lump. Never was an injury there before. What is it???
Hi all! Mama hen hatched some eggs. They are all in a large dog crate with food and water inside the coop. Our coop is at least 4ft off the ground, so not safe to let the babies walk around the coop and no safe way to get outside (ramp is super long).
Mama hen wants her chicks to follow her...
I’m so sorry to hear that. She is doing SO a much better. We found she had 2 huge wounds on either side of her from mating. Really bad injury’s. We isolated her and healed the wounds and now she is doing much better, although she prefers to hangout in the coop where my giant rooster can’t get...
I’m not sure if they are buffalo gnats. They are just super tiny little flies that seem to swarm around the chickens legs. Can’t tell if they are being bit. Either way, how can I manage these little flies? We also have large black house flies all over which I have bought traps for. Any ideas to...
Thanks I will try to get some tomorrow. Do you know if TSC sells a good one? I have checked the few that I can catch… will check the rest asap. And yeah, he is a BIG boy.
thank you. That is the plan so far. And great idea investing in saddles. I have her isolated now. Do you think trimming the roosters nails are a good idea?
Found this injury under one of my birds wings on both sides. It could have been there for weeks. I am assuming it’s from my giant rooster, who we are going to trim his nails today.
I cleaned out the wound as best I could and put wound spray and neosporin on it. She’s eating more scrambled eggs...
She is less than a year old. Laid an egg yesterday. We feed a non gmo 16% layer pellet.
Going to get some vitamins this afternoon and pray that works!
Video of her not walking.
Thanks for the reply.
Our chicken was limping a few weeks ago. It seems her left leg was injured. Checked for everything (bumble foot, other injury, everything google says to check for) she is fine. Figured she might have sprained it coming down the coop ramp in the rain.
Now fast forward a few weeks, it seems she is...
Noticed this on my only rooster the other day. I thought it was dirt but it hasn’t gone away. I read it could be dried blood? But idk not sure who would be pecking him since he is the biggest chicken and only rooster. Please help for treatments!
