We have 6 adult ducks and 3 ducklings right now. I clean the babies' tub just about every day right now. The bigger coop is usually every 2 weeks, but that all depends on weather. When it rains a bunch, they track in lots of mud, so I clean it more often. If we have hot days and it smells, I...
Hello all! An update on my little with angel wing. I wasn’t able to get her wrapped and keep her wrapped long enough to get her wing to correct. Yesterday I noted a few more of my girls flight wings look funny to me. Do these look like the start of angel wing to you? Are rolled oats safe to add...
Oh don't feel bad at all!! I just have a couple of houdinis on my hands (this little duckling and my bloodhound puppy!!) If I can't get the panty hose to work then I may just let her be. I don't want to stress her more than she needs to be. As long as its not going to hurt the other wing joints.
I will have to get some pantyhose then because even though I used a tube sock (twice now) she has gotten both off. This morning it was rolled up under the feathers on her breast. It seems to stay for some of the day, but I don't know if she is pulling up from the back or if the other girls are...
Well by the time I posted the last one saying that I had re-wrapped it, I had gone out to check them again (we are without power and using a generator-my puppy unplugged the generator so I went to the barn to make sure their heat lamp & room heater came back on) she had gotten the new wrap off...
I saw that method as an option as well! Another one I saw was a t-shirt sleeve. If this wrap doesn't end up staying on for long, we may revert to an option like that. Would a sock be too tight around her? I saw some people saying that their birds lost their balance and fell over? Is that more of...
When we stretched her wing out to get the wrap on there, it doesn't look like any feathers are missing. I think it is part of the flight feathers coming in as well as the way she is holding it. When we got up this morning to check on her the wrap was off, so we re-wrapped her and then gave her...
Hello! Just wrapped my girl tonight (saw this way of wrapping after I had wrapped her) but her wing just looked heavy a few days ago and now seems to flop out. All my girls are about 6.5 weeks old. Here are few before and after pics. She’s still mad at me for wrapping her so getting a good one...

Ok that sounds good. I will get some nutritional yeast to sprinkle on their food. We decided to go ahead with the Nature's Balance Organic crumbles. It’s 18% protein and 25mg of niacin per pound. I was reading in Holderread Storey’s Guide to Raising Ducks that ducklings after 2 wks should have...
Hmm ok. Well if we choose to go with that we’ll make sure to keep it somewhere dry
With them free feeding how do you measure out the nutritional yeast? I’m having a hard time understanding all the measurements because there are so many different recommendations. And do they need to be fed twice...
Sorry about that! My girls are Buff Orpingtons. I do not have chickens just the ducklings. I will need to mix the original feed with the new feed for a while to slowly get them on the new food but otherwise I don’t intend to mix them. It looked like the Nature’s Best organic was formulated for...
That’s good to know about the Nature’s Best. We are in Michigan so it can be humid here too. I have their current feed in the original bag and that is placed inside of a metal tin with a tight lid. Will that help?
They did have a Purina Flock Raiser and it was in pellet form. My girls are on a crumble and I’m not sure what age they should move up to the pellets. I would be concerned about them choking.
My husband and I just noticed that they seem to lay down a bit more. They are laying by the waterer...
My girls are about 2 1/2 weeks old and I was concerned about their niacin intake. I was getting a feed from a local feed store that they make themselves. When I purchased it, they said it was great for both ducklings and chicks and is sold as a starter/grower. I have called several times to get...
Ok perfect that seems to go along with what they told me. So we’ll wait on starting that for a few more weeks. And we’ll start oyster shells closer to laying.
