In the end, 6 out of 7 hatched and are doing well. The one that did not hatch was the one that had the lose air sac when I got it. I am thrilled with our babies!!!
My incubator has held consistently 72-74% humidity. I have my temps around 97F degrees. Will candle in the am as I am at work tonight. I am so anxious about them. Things had looked so good on day 18.
Rubynala97, how did your hatch go. I am on day 21 and no pips. I candles at day 18 before lockdown and all eggs looked dark and saw some movement in most. Didn't keep them out of the incubator very long. Very worried I haven't seen anything. It all looked so good!
That was a great article. I recandled and my air cells appear ti be on target. I could see movement in all eggs. My daughter was so excited. We at first didn't see movement in the smallest egg. So I re-candled it after we were done with the others. We saw it move around. She was excited and said...
I missed your post. Only one jiggled, the others looked good. They have been in the incubator since last Monday. I candled tonight and they all looked like the candling pics. I could see veins and little embryos. I could even see little heartbeats in some of them. What should my humidity be...
I candled the eggs and only one had a floating air sack. I have 7 eggs. The remaining air pockets were fairly small. Dime size, one quarter size. I marked the air sacks and let the eggs sit at room temperature for 6 hours. I am off work until Friday so will watch temps closely. I marked Xs on...
I bought and put in a separate thermometer and hydrometer. And was shocked at how off the bator thermometer was. I made adjustments to the temp. I gave it holding at 99.8. I read hatching 101. I am so nervous about getting my eggs tomorrow.
By what the incubator was saying. Thank you. I will put a temp probe in and monitor it. I have it set up in my studio which is quiet, still and I maintain the room temp at a constant temp. So hoping that will help.
Hi folks! I have kept chicks for about 4 years. Small backyard flock. My daughter and I are about to set out first batch of eggs. We bought a magic fly incubator, cleaned it well, and have it running as we wait for our eggs. We should receive them on Monday. BAntam partridge sillies. I know that...
Thank you and I want natural eggs. I am feeding mine organic and supplementing 5-10% of their diet with flax seed to enrich the Omega 3. Just had never seen any chickens eggs like that. They look like someone sprayed white paint splatters on them. Not sure if people would be okay with that...
My hens are just 6 months old and just started laying. I live in South Lousiana. 6 of my 7 are laying and I am getting 4-6 eggs a day with no supplemental lighting. I was thinking that in the fall, I would do some solar lighting if my egg production drops off. I have no outlet near the...
Have been researching mealworms for the chickens, my dad is making us a solar pop heater for the in the works green house to be made from reclaimed PVC pipe. This is our first year to get going so we are taking it one small step at a time. But we are really enjoying the process!
