    This chicken is not dead

Now that you mention it, they kinda do 🤔

What predator would pile up dead chickens?

. I mean I guess specifically "for fun" is hard to know. But even with humans, I don't think the taking life part is what most normal people find "fun" about hunting. Whales often play with live prey, at times not even killing it. Is it practice , or just entertaining? Regardless, they appear...

    "Friendly and Docile"

Thank you. I'm pretty sure my Australorp is the only one who did her homework after she hatched.

    Roos, gone, hen is "crowing"

That's pretty cool. Biology is certainly not binary.

What predator would pile up dead chickens?

Animals absolutely do have "fun" with hunting and their prey. It doesn't require an understanding of "taking Affection isn't unique to humans. Grief, joy, compassion , and "fun" are also observed in animals. Whales and primates are the most obvious examples. Heck, even bees will play with balls...

"Barred Rocks are famous for their calm, friendly nature. They’re curious, sociable, and a great fit for families with children or anyone who enjoys interacting with their flock. These birds will happily follow you around the yard, waiting for a cuddle or a tasty snack!" My PBR Ellie, didn't get...

To broody or not to broody (should I let my hen hatch eggs next year?)

I was in the "It'll be ok if I'm careful" camp until this morning. I went out to check on the them. I adjusted his collar, like I always do. I watched him for 10 minutes, like I always do. He walked away without a fuss or care, like he always did. 2 hours later I'm taking him to the vet to have...

    New dog-cat-parrot-chicken

He lost the staring contest. But seriously, she pecked at the corner of his eye. I'm assuming I'm assuming at a glare or something. She pecks at my glasses and earrings cos they're shiny.

    New dog-cat-parrot-chicken

I have 6 chickens that I consider pets, but I've never had a pet chicken until now. I purchased Ellie at a recent poultry show. I picked her because she was the only pullet who didn't try to run away. Instead she pecked my hand. Winner! From day one she has climbed all over me, and enjoys...

(Update) RIP HeadHen - Story of HeadHen and how unique she is

Mineral oil as far as I know. It's a thick gel, vs most oils. It doesn't really thin out like coconut oil does when warmed. I had just never seen it suggested before, other than my vet. My hen's issues are milder than yours, though. I imagine the bras are pretty helpful, and seem to be...

(Update) RIP HeadHen - Story of HeadHen and how unique she is

I have a chicken with similar issues. Hers are not as extreme, but she will get an impacted crop, and a saggy food boob if I don't monitor her diet. I wasn't comfortable with the suggestions I found online, soI took her to the chicken vet. She gave me Vetoquinol Laxatone Gel Hairball Control...

Are you guys sure this is a pullet?

Well...damn. He's still peeping like a chick, but I think I may have to invest in a collar...and bribe the neighbors. He's quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Are you guys sure this is a pullet?

12-14 weeks. She/he was just off heat and outside when I got her. Ayam Cemani/EE cross.

Are you guys sure this is a pullet?

I know I asked this already, but she's showing some odd behaviors. She's tried mounting the other pullets. I know it can be a dominance thing, buuuuttt...
