    Sudden infected eye ??

We were able to get almost all of the puss out. But it honestly wasn't much. Almost like a contact lense. When we applied a bit of pressure the whole thing kinda popped some clear liquid out. The rest is dark in color and moves on its own - which makes us think it's her eye. We're putting her...

    Sudden infected eye ??

Update on my chicken: she's no longer laying but she's acting normal other than her eye. I've tried to work puss out without success. She barely tolerates me holding her or putting ointment in her eye let alone touching her eye at all. Does anyone know what's wrong with it? I put her on LA-200...

Just keeping an eye on it (hahaha) day by day and letting the antibiotics and nature do its best I guess.

    Sudden infected eye ??

This morning it was oozing a lot and a bit crusty. I tried to poke around and squeeze a bit but it's not looking like pus. If it is then it's stuck to her eye. It's nothing like the video and just seems like I'd be squeezing her eye out. Still rinsing and using ointment as well as the antibiotics.

    Sudden infected eye ??

I have a video and it's not letting me upload it. I wonder if it's an eye worm. She's still pretty lethargic but it doesn't seem as bad as before. Eye area is still very large comparatively but not as red as before. Idk. I feel like I've been playing a week long game at chicken illness...

    Sudden infected eye ??

Little update: Been testing with oxytetracycline daily for 3 days. Giving her B12 and K as well as poultry cell. All the flock is getting probiotics and electrolytes. Been making mash for her and giving yogurt. She's perked up a lot more but still lethargic. Eyelid is still swollen although she...

    Sudden infected eye ??

Got it. I've been holding her frequently the last few days and I've not felt a crop at all, at least not a large one like this photo, but perhaps I haven't been looking for it. I'm heading to my feed store after work tomorrow and I plan to ask around about LA200 dosing information for chickens...

    Sudden infected eye ??

I'm new to chickens, what is crop emptying? I'll pick up some calcium tabs and give them to her. I do have oyster shells available to them and I know they consume them. But she's always been this way. I attributed it to her being new to egg laying but when you add then all up together ...

    Sudden infected eye ??

She's acting sick: only resting. Not foraging or standing long. Didn't lay an egg today but did yesterday. I let her out with the flock for a bit yesterday evening and one of the hens was pecking at her. She can't keep up with them either, just stands there. So I think she's more sick than just...

    Oxytetracycline dose (tbsp / tsp)

Wondering if this can be given orally? All my feed store has is the injectable and I'm really nervous about injecting her. I can barely manage to hold her still to apply wash and ointment in her eye let alone poke her correctly !!

    Sudden infected eye ??

No bubbles or goo. I'm flushing the eye with veterycin and applying terramycin in the eye. She's still able to roost in the coop in her usual spot, although I'm keeping her separated from the rest of the flock during the day. She is eating and drinking but mostly mealworms and water only. She is...

    Sudden infected eye ??

I am flushing the eye 2-3x daily with veterycin eye wash as well as some homeopathic eye drops. It looks like her inner eyelid is infected. No bubbles or goo, though this morning I was able to wipe away a small milky goobie after a good wash. I think it's pink eye but I can't be certain. She is...

    Sudden infected eye ??

My hen seems to have an infected eye. Keeping it closed but when I pull her kid down the eye itself looks cloudy, glazed and red or inflamed. I've separate her from the flock (mostly so I can easily give her treatment) and have flushed her eye as best I can with veterycin wash. She is drinking...

    Infrequent egg laying

A Wellsummer, 2 Americana Easter eggers and 1 Cuckoo Maran. And I don't have a clue which ones are laying. Well, I think I might but I could be totally wrong!
