After the coop was built and the hens were starting to lay, things were normal until today.
I had a few double yokes but today a triple! How normal is a triple yoke? Has anyone seen a quad?
You could use tomato clip's that clamp on the line and form a nice loop for tomato. They are very cheap and I have used with fishing line.
U could use tomato clips very cheap and work with fishing line.
I had a climapod greenhouse that I put up four years ago. Unfortunately a big winter storm just after Christmas, brought down a huge tree and crushed it. I had over $3k invested and would have had to buy another $2k+ kit. I was just sick with it and went off to build a chicken coop.
A...
I have spent some time on the coop built forum, I like to build stuff so it was a natural fit. Now I'm raising these four hens and can't begin to tell you how much I'm enjoying them. From right to left is; Goldy, Honey, Pinky, and Red. They each have a different personality and are so funny...
I got the UXOLIFE chicken automatic door for around $60, no longer available on Amazon. I now see it selling for $120. After two weeks it has performed flawlessly! My coop door is under a roof and under big trees, the coop faces north and the door faces east. I wanted the action to be run...
Sorry not to reply until now I was hang gliding in Cali. I bought the nailer/ stapler for $19 20 years ago. It is Central Pneumatic name but looks much like the one they sell today.
Uxolife was the name on the box, not sure how to link to Amazon? It has been working for three days/nights, I go out after dark and the hens are in the coop with door closed. I go out in the morning and the door is fully open and the the hens are out in the run. This design looks alot like...
On the 45 degree elbow I put a small (new moon shaped) lip to keep the feed inside, seams to be working nicely. The 45 street elbows I used were not the same as I had seen in the info video, I used hot melt glue to secure the fittings and to glue on the lip.
Being new to chicken keeping I started with the small drinker and feeder. I quickly realized the need for daily cleaning and feeder replenishment. I decided to go with the 5 gallon buckets with rent a coop cups and the 45 degree feeder. So far (4 days) they are both working great. I also...
I just put 1600 staples in the last few days, over 600 just doing the apron today. I used a harbor freight $28 pneumatic pin nailer, and yes the narrow 1 inch galvanized every 2 in is extremely strong and cheap, almost impossible to pull out, even with a claw hammer. You can't drive 1 inch...
One of the things I have been dreading but I made my humble attempt to predator proof my new coop/run today, if there is such a thing.
Every day I work on my coop and post what I've done, only to find out how I could have done it better, I have no trouble with feedback.
So I filled...
No just an angle cut on the side 2x4s that mate when the other end hits the ground. I see no reason for a latch? The middle is supported by the 2x4 extending from the rafter.
OK after watching the video realized my 45 degree steps were not very good. I had screwed them together so easy task to change the angle to 30 degrees. I needed to extend the steps so I tied the upper steps to the roof with vertical 2x4, then hinged the lower section to the upper. When it...
I like the idea or having a shorter ramp/stairs. Gives more room in the run, and hopefully will discourage roosting on the ramp. Did you go 45 degrees or more like 60?
I'm getting close to completing my coop and time to make a ramp. I've noticed some of the Carolina coops have small stair cases instead of ramps. I can build either one and have many small pieces of 2x4 left over. I like the look of the stairs better then the ramps but not sure which the...
Been designing and building my first coop and my design is better for BYC. Looking at your poop door and your nesting boxes being so low it might be difficult to do deep bedding. I raised mine up a foot, I've read some like 18 inches of bedding.
