No tails and some bald backs and other spots.

Looks like depluming mites have attacked them. We use Elector PSP which works wonders and requires no egg withdrawal period. It also works on other wee beasties that attack our girls periodically. Lastly, it also kills the flys that may be in and or around your coop and is harmless to cats and...

The enclosure has a triple top, the topmost of which is reflective aluminized tarp. They have a mister line that goes around 2 sides. They also have a fan with...

Great article. :) Love the suggestions. Our girls are all molting now and look terrible. We are in Arizona so not too worried about cold weather, but I love some of the ideas for cleaning the coop.

Comment by 'Rickey Lynn' in article 'Deciding To Free Range Your Flock'

Wonderful article. Our girls get to free range for an hour or two every day. While they are doing that we clean and tidy up their enclosure and sometimes clean the coops. We also plant mealworms or superworms around the area so they can forage for them and enjoy some really fresh food. Our girls...

I'm in Tempe, and we have 10 ladies. We installed a swamp cooler on each coop and the girls go in and out to cool off. While this method for humans would be uncomfortable, the constantly moving air seems to be enjoyed by them. We also give them frozen treats like frozen watermelon slices which...

Poll on flock toys — please answer if possible!

We have a swing that they love and they peck at a xylophone sometimes for a while. No tunes that I am familiar with!
