    How many layers?

How many layers do you all think I have so far? We started with 12 chicks the first week of March. Somehow they were all pullets and no roos! They’re starting to lay. I’m thinking I have 4 different ones so far. What do you think?

    Chickens digging

Do I need to do that on the outside too to prevent predators?

    Chickens digging

Yeah maybe. Although they are escaping from the hole and I’m lucky one of my dogs hasn’t gotten to them yet 😭

    Chickens digging

My 12 chickens (8 weeks old) are digging out of their run. It’s 11.5x12. Is this not big enough? Are they bored? We haven’t buried hardware cloth yet as husband is traveling. Will hopefully be working on that next week. Help!

    Pullet or cockerel?

What do we think? This is the only one out of 12 that have a comb. Could it be a little roo? These are my first chicks so I’m not too confident in my ability to identify yet. They are just over 6 weeks old. I also got at TSC and I think it was in the Americana bin, which from my understanding is...

    First week in coop

They are 1ft horizontal and vertical. May just be the angle I took the photo from. But I’m thinking I may need the hubby to take it down and put one long bar for them. That seems to be the consensus

    First week in coop

This may be a dumb question, but how to keep water from coming in by adding more ventilation up there?

    First week in coop

So i kind of just cut the other 3 but the one that came precut (turned shed into coop) is 10.5x10.5. The one you see below the roost is about the size of the other 3. Not sure exact dimensions. They’re all open 24/7. Just built a little overhang to divert water. And I have 12 birds. The entire...

    First week in coop

There are 4 sets of windows and 2 vent holes. There should be more?

    First week in coop

First week in the coop for my almost 6 week old chicks. They’re all fighting for the top roost bar. Is this normal? are my roosting bars okay? A couple of weeks and they won’t all fit up there comfortably..

4.5 week old chicks move outside?

I will try that! The only thing worrying me is the 39 degree night. But they will be right at 5 weeks on that day. Did you have to show them the box before night time or they just found it? My chicks already enjoy roosting at night so I’m not even sure they would use it- but would like to have...

4.5 week old chicks move outside?

4.5 week old chicks move outside?

Gotta love that Easter cold snap! If I move them out do I need to put their heat plate out there? It says to make sure temp is 50 or above for use so not sure it would do much anyways. They have most of their feathers, just missing the head feathers

4.5 week old chicks move outside?

No they don’t use it during the day. Not much at night either. They have been outside all day this week. The lowest has got in the mid 40s in the unheated garage.

    Move outside?

I suppose I can but they are getting very crowded in the biggest thing I have (pack and play set up). They just fly up to the top and perch most of the time. I have been taking them outside this week (temps in 80s ) and they’ve been loving it

    Move outside?

Move outside? My 12 chicks are 4.5 weeks old. Mostly feathered except their heads. I’m thinking of moving them to the coop because they have outgrown every brooder I set up for them and the flies are getting really bad in our garage. I would need to run a drop cord for their heat plate, is that...
