I've been dealing with Bumble foot off and on and after my first round of cleaning and changing bandages every day, I now clean, apply antibiotic ointment and wait a couple of days. Then repeat. So far, after removing the bandage the second time, the Bumble is soft and comes right out. Then I...
I've had Bob inside since I found her in such condition yesterday, so approximately 12 hours, and she's niether pooped nor laid an egg. So my next step is to let her set in warm Epson salts water to hopefully help if there is a stuck egg, and also to clean her up. She has eaten and she is...
One of the other hens was pecking her and there was blood on her head where I assume she'd been getting pecked multiple times. I picked her up and looked her over and found that her bottom was extremely dirty, with a lot of dried poop and nasty feathers. Her vent was open with no redness or...
I've had concerns about the feed situation. I have 2 runner/pekin mix ducks...a male and a female....and I have 6 chickens, all hens. They all have free roam of the yard, which is fenced in. The chickens have a coop inside of a run where I have always kept their food and water. The ducks have...
Thanks for the suggestion. I have heard that that can sometimes help. I'd like to have more chick's, but...my sister (and, the home owner) says no, lol. We do have 3 roosters, who happen to be quite interested, but they are Bantams and quite mean.
I have a hen that has been staying on the unfertilized eggs, and then staying in the empty nesting box after the eggs are removed. I like your advice and plan to start trying something similar in the morning. 😊

Which are Cayugas? I have ducks that look like the dark one with the white breast in your photo. Mine are mostly black, one with th full white breast and the other is mottled and both have iridescent green and blue. One is slightly smaller than the other and it still peeps and sometimes...
These 2 seem to be connected at the hip, lol. They hate being separated and yell at the top of their lungs until they're able to touch again. I put them outside for quite a while yesterday, as it was in the high 70's, and they made themselves at home. I have 5 hens that free range and they just...
I let them outside during the day, when I can be out with them. And, they actually get out of the tote as they please and run around the room. I'm looking to find an outdoor, enclosed run and coop with lots of running room. I'd never seen runner ducks before I got these. They act like little...
These are my ducks now...compared to when i got them less than a month ago. The feeder next to them is the same siz as the waterer in the bottom photo. Left is Pip and right is Duckie. Pip is slightly smaller and has been making occasional quacking sounds.
What about grass clippings? My mower jas a bagger and I usually just dump it on the compost pile, but could I give so e of it to my ducks? My chickens free range so they help themselves to it. My ducks are quite ready to be pur out on their own.
I'm trying to find the best thing to use on the coop floor. I use pine shavings for my chickens, as well as for my ducks that are still inside. But, wondering if anyone has any better ideas. 😊 thanks
