Make sure there is no overcrowding. You could try introducing the new ones slowly like with a fence or cage between them so no one gets agressive. We have 5 hens that are different breeds that we have had for a year and raised them since they were only 1 day old together. We have Barred Rock...
Definitely introduce them to each other slowly. Put a fence or cage between them so they can see each other but not interact so the older chickens can't hurt the younger ones! Best of luck! :hugs 🐔🐣
We moved their coop about a month ago and they have been fine until now. The coop was moved only a few feet because it was off our property by a little. Yes, there is windows on both sides. The coop door is set to close at 9:00. Maybe we should set it for later?
We checked and no snake. We have ventilation and it is fine. No signs of predators and it has been warm the last few days. We thought maybe she got stuck outside and maybe had a heart attack or fell from a high roosting bar? We are not sure. It is a good idea to put a camera out there! I will...
It's not too crowded. They have a big coop and only 5 of them. It isn't dirty, but we will clean it out tomorrow. We checked the run and coop and nothing has got in or anything to disturb them. We got them on the 2nd of last Febuary, so they are a year and 1 month old.
Temperature is supposed to be 100 degrees. They could also have pasty butt. A lot of chicks get that. It happens when chickens poop gets stuck in their butt. Make sure all chicks have good living conditions. You might want to look into how to care and prevent pasty butt.
They look like all females to me! We had 5 hens but one died today. Only a year old. :hitSo I know what a hen looks like. We live in a town where we are only allowed 5 hens.
My chickens have not been going in their coop at night. We have 5 hens and no bullying occurs between them. We have an automatic coop door and we have had them for a year. They have never done this before. One of our hens, Luna, a barred rock, did not go in the coop last night and when I woke up...
I love my speckled sussex girl. Her name is Lola. Unfortunately, my chicken, Luna just died and we are not sure why. We have a automatic closing door to the coop and thought she might have not got in at night and started freaking out. Maybe heart attack? I'm not sure. But yes I love my speckled...
OMG!!! I'm so sorry for your loss! I think you should try to spend more time with your other chickens to get your mind off of her. But you could tell yourself that hey, at least she didn't die a long painful death. You made the right decision to put her to rest. So sorry for you! BYE!:hit:hugs
