Could have also been failure to thrive , chicks can be okay without water for short periods . Sorry we didn’t see you in time but you did everything we would have told you to do. Usually by this stage something bigger is wrong and they cannot be saved . I’m so sorry
That is pretty impressive, I know cats carry something in their mouth (bacteria) designed to kill birds and mice/ and I’ve never seen a happy ending- however a kids shoe can also end their life lol
New update- baby is in its own brooder with hobble on for splay leg. Is getting around okay ...
Update the chick is Alive but now has splay leg from incubator - I have put this baby through it . Tonight I’m going to put it in its own. Brooder after one last wash of the area. I’ll continue antibiotics but this poor baby is so tired
If it’s 95+ today without rain, where your living the chick needs to be outside today In a brooder , where nothing can get in except sunlight until you get a heater, let us know how we can help
Useful but I don’t think any of us are eating these chickens, and I surely am not taking an animal antibiotic, that’s why it confuses me that fish antibiotics are the same mg as humans- like how though?
Does make me understand why they would ban it cause there’s no way a fish should be on what...

I would typically give 2 x as much as their birds are small. I’ve lucked into fish antibiotics at cal-vetsupply recently too but the human dosage problem...
Hi coop boots! Mikes falconry I think the name is has exotic bird antibiotics and I suggest them before those are illegal too.
Anyway I would maybe just do the bare minimum - maybe 30 mg as you’re not sure it’s infected yet .. when you clean this wound out do you have iodine? It helps greatly
I have and I’ve raised 100s of chicks. Shipping is so hard on them!( they ship them from pretty far to your store in this heat :/ ) If more die consider treating with small small doses of corrid . I’m so sorry for your loss.
As for other comment - I’ve had many live with wry neck using goat...
Hi!
I’ve had some get this way when they were cold ( and that’s the only ones that live) , or sick , or failure to thrive and they do die , I don’t think it would have made a difference ,
If it makes you feel any better last year my stepson called me screaming and crying that our chick had...
Right now she’s back in the incubator with a towel to cuddle up in , I do have broody moms outside but I’ve had to nurse their chicks back to health after mom attacked them too, for them I didn’t use antibiotics just hen healer, I did force feed it some egg, covered in a tad more antibiotic and...
I got home 30 minutes after my husband called me that it happened , I’ve cleaned it with water and iodine - and put the chick on small amounts of amoxicillin / baytril orally. Since we only found out it hatched because the cat was running with it it hasn’t been much on eating.
I also covered...
This silkie hatched 12hrs ago. It can't walk. It just scoots around. It keeps both legs together with one tucked up under it. Doesn't look like splay leg or slipped tendon. Any idea what to do?
Yes is there a trick to seeing anything other than a shadow . I’ve got some white eggs incubating but these ones I can’t see much of anything going on, thank you
