This is our setup and we have and just added some things to make them happy. Toys that dispense treats and I just treated all their butts with pine tar. The good news is I seem to be keeping their butts infection free for now and covering them up with blue coat. I hope the pine tar really stops...
Thanks no parasites it definitely then pecking eachother but now it feels intentional nd eating of feathers it’s brutal and at this point we literally are doing everything but separating six damn chickens.
We keep hosing them down with blue coat, one of our girls butt is really wounded we might have to somehow separate her but that’s going to be hard to do. It’s cold and rainy here so letting them out all day is tough too. We just purchased some chicken toys that dispense treats that will...
We have six hens and we noticed that at least 3 butts are being plucked…we have tried giving them toys and things to peck at in the run and we let them out when it’s good weather, our coop can handle 14 hens so there is more than enough space, places to roost, we are concerned that one ore more...
Alright well I saw it happen then sort of
Dominated her by holding her down a moment then jailed her for some time before releasing her sgain. We will keep
An eye that she isn’t drawing blood but man she is a mini biatch not gonna lie!!
Hello I just watched one of our hens mounts another of our hens. She is more aggressive than I am comfortable with and wanted to know if this is normal behavior. I separated her from the flock for the moment so she can’t get to anyone, she is the dominant for sure but I was not prepared to see...
So we have done all we can to make out coop pest and predator free but mice are just something I think we all deal with. We have open feeders and recently found some
Mice dropping. Obviously we don’t want it but can anyone tell us what the major concerns of mice are and then i gotta figure out...
My neighbor has agreed and her daughters will help. I’ll pay them, I just am concerned with heat and making sure they are cool. Also furiously working on integrating the babies with the pullets so it’s been a crazy 2 months already and time is flying.
My whole family is going lol otherwise I would ask my mom. I am going to ask my neighbor but I wasn’t sure if there was maybe like an official group I could employ for a day or two lol you know what I mean ?
So we are going to be gone a week at the end of August and I am wondering if there was any advice on finding someone who could come and check on them sometime during that week to make sure they are cool and otherwise make sure they are doing okay? I live in the Bensalem Feasterville area i n...
It goes back further they do have room in the back, here is an older picture that sort of shows that but your right it’s not a lot of space for it to be like that for long. We do it for a small timeframe then let them out to fee range then we do have separate pen for the babies to give everyone...
We are very new backyard chicken owners. We have 1 rooster and 3 hens at 10 weeks and 3 chicks at 5 weeks. We need these girls and boys to be integrated before we leave for vacation at the end of august but the concern is are we doing it eifht
1. For about a 2 weeks we had the chicks and...
Hi Guys,
Anyone else in the area concerned for their flock in the current conditions ? Is there anything we can do short of bringing them in the house.....which is really not an option we can explore.
Its getting bad out there and even I am struggling a bit when I go out to breathe properly.
Thank you all for your comments and advice unfortunately she didn’t make it last night 😔, but I purchased the vitamins to hopefully boost the other littles to continue to thrive.
Hi thank you but the bedding is dry and everything was set up for them today, she is now doing this weird stance, almost like rocking back on her heels with her head up and I would say doing a fish out of water impression, It doesnt seem she is gasping for breath but at the same time it looks...
