Beautiful Hill Quail/Partridge and others (Pic. Heavy)

Wow thanks so much for the wonderful information. I will most likely be getting in touch with them at Spectrum in the next few months as I get the garage all finished up so I can offer a better heated and indoor aviary for a few of our birds and some of the birds that we want as well. The rest...

    Anyone used Assault?

Here is what I found on the subject..... looks to me that there can be some secondary poisoning as stated in this article but it appears not to lethal (although not very good for a pet either). Steve Bromethalin was developed and released in 1985 to combat a world-wide problem of rodent...

    Strange eagle behavior and questions

A lot of the screaming has to do with establishing one territory, they are basically calling to other eagles in the area to come and fight if they want that particular branch as a theirs. Although I have seen red tail hawks and such screech from a fence post to flush up quail. Keep that duck...

Feathers! What do you all do with those beautiful feathers?

I fish and tie lots of flat wing streamers and such and have several roos that will find a wonderful place in my arsenal of materials. I also work at a deer camp for a couple months in the fall so I bring home more bucktails than one man should be allowed to have. Steve

Feathers! What do you all do with those beautiful feathers?

Quote: Ever hear the Name Vincent Wilcox? I do believe so... I am an obsessed (on he verge of clinical really) with fly tying and have been since I was 8yrs old. I have a HUGE flock that I am raising simply for tying purposes. Anyone have some really nice and pure grey jungle cock birds that...

    Eeeeks....rats in my coop!

For mice the best I have found has been chickens... they will tear them to shreds and fight over them like crazy in my barns. As for the rats I really don't know what to tel you since I have not ever had that problem. Steve

Owl? The guineas are in an enclosed run 9/16!

Unfortunately, and more or less.... yeah. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but unless you really want to take that risk. I would still suggest you spend some time tomorrow calling your local wildlife agent and see what they have to say about the matter, they may be able to help as you are...

Owl? The guineas are in an enclosed run 9/16!

Birds of prey (owls, hawks and vultures) are protected federally and it is a HUGE no no to trap, kill or otherwise harass them. I understand the issue here and would probably be in the same predicament as you, just be careful. You may want to contact your local DNR agent or conservation agent or...

    Bees anyone?

I used to as a younger man on my grandparents farm, since they passed when I was younger and I have now moved to my own farm I have not been able to find a feral swarm to capture. Top bar hives are ok if your winters stay above 40 degrees, if they get much colder than that you will lose them to...

Would it be bad to feed my Chickens Racoon?

Well at least you have the story line well thought out!!! I see o issue but I would makke sure you gut it and skin it first or you are going to have parasite issues as coons carry LOTS of bugs in their belly. Steve

Bobcat grabbed hen not 5 feet from me!

AllCoop'dUp, not that it wouldn't hurt my feelings if it was my dog but I grew up that you either give food or become food so in that case... YES. Most definitely if it has been chasing deer and turkeys in my neck of the woods as it is highly illegal for me to house that dog because it is view...
