    Is this an australorp?

I bought 4 australorp chicks in June and they were all black with the dabs of white, all looking identical. They are now 9 weeks old and one is gray and one has a rust colored neck. The other 2 look like genuine australorps. Can they vary in color like this?

    Butchering a broody hen

Is it ok to butcher and eat a broody hen. She has gone broody 3 times in less than a year and has only laid a dozen eggs in the year since she was a chick last spring, so I want to cull her but didn't know if the hormones would affect the meat.
