It is fun. I go every Spring and Summer to watch the buffalo for several hours... Last year was the first time I had seen deer on the property, and I counted just over a hundred before losing count after that... I bet seeing that buffalo and DeLorean were both pretty exciting. Glad you got to...

I don't know how many buffalo are on this ranch, but it is fun to drive through in the early Spring and see all of the pregnant cows, then go again a couple of months later and see all of the many new calves that were born...

Best BIG meat birds / least expensive

I want to get some big meat birds, but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for them. I talked to a couple the other day that had some Cornish birds crossed with ****(cannot remember the name) and their birds were 12-15 pounds when they were butchered. Who is a good reliable source for heavy...

This is Golden Girl, and she is about the same size as a pigeon! She is 3 years old. She started setting, and since I did not have a rooster at the time, her eggs were not going to hatch. A friend of mine gave me 6 eggs to put under her, and before you know it, she finally had her own...

Topic of the Week - Feeding mealworms, bugs etc.

My hens totally stopped laying one winter, for a couple of weeks, when I was normally getting 42 eggs a day, everyday... I went snagging for spoonbill one morning, freezing cold, and snagged into one that weighed 95 pounds. When I got back to the house and got that fish cleaned, all of my...

Topic of the Week - Feeding mealworms, bugs etc.

I let my chickens free range every evening for 2-3 hours, and they load up on grass seeds, clover and their favorite "snack" GRASSHOPPER'S!!! It makes for some very happy birds! 😁

Mites or Lice- is there anything I can do?

I have been using DE for the past 40 years without absolute "0" issues! I have chickens that are 10 years old, and while they no longer produce eggs, they are still very healthy birds and they have been lightly dusted with DE their whole life. I won't argue my point, I just know what has and...

Mites or Lice- is there anything I can do?

I dust mine twice, about 10 days apart. If the birds have a chicken house, or anywhere else they go, dust there too, as well as where they nest. Good luck to you.

Mites or Lice- is there anything I can do?

Get a bag of Diatomaceous Earth and dust the chickens with it, then sprinkle it all over the chicken yard. It will kill mites, lice, ticks, etc. and will make those birds much happier. You can also sprinkle a very small amount in with their feed. My chicken's usually get mite's in the spring...
